I disagree. I tend to watch shows for characterization, and Elementary, IMO, is far better and far more nuanced in that regard than Sherlock. Sherlock is glossy and the writing is pretty tight, but they rely a lot on gimmicks and their characters lack the depth of Elementary's. I feel nothing when watching Sherlock's

My biggest reason for reserving judgement re: the Mycroft/Joan thing (as an unapologetic Sherlock/Joan fan) is that Mycroft, as we see him right now, is not Mycroft. Mycroft is smarter than Sherlock, more conniving, and has very big friends in very high places. In the canon, he was basically the British government.

Ratings dropped again. CBS is going to kill this show. Next to zero social media for it. 2.5 Men is in rapid decline. Scandal is doing insane numbers. I can't understand why a show this consistently awesome can't catch a hold. Last night it was against baseball, so hopefully the early market numbers are way low.

Anyone who knows me knows I would commit bigamy with this show if I could, but this episode just didn't thrill me. I thought it felt a bit rushed and unbalanced. I felt like the scene where Sherlock confessed more of his boarding school experience to Joan was tonally dissonant given the context—it made it feel like

My theory is that he's a Moriarty sleeper agent. I got a very unsettled vibe from the whole thing.

Yeah, and those were actually +3 numbers.I bet the +7 is huge.  It shows people watch the show, but it doesn't really play into network decision making. The whole system needs to adjust, really.

This show outdoes itself every single week. The fact that it's not a ratings juggernaut kills me. It's treading water against Scandal, but I think CBS screwed itself. 2.5 Men is not doing well this year. POI is going backward on Tuesday, and Scandal is such a force. I think they should have left things alone—when all

A friend of mine brought this scene up last night and said "You know by saying that she's thought about it, he's saying he has thought about it." Giving transference a whole different context in the scene.

Also, I know that the word procedural is often used as an epithet, but can I compliment on this show on its very good adherence to procedure?

The metaphor was fantastic, though! (I was a Mass Media major—I took Bio for Poets or something similar.)

Was the shower running Reichenbach Falls?

I found Dormer as Moriarty absolutely riveting. Dormer as Irene—it wasn't breathtaking, nor was it bad. I think Jonny Lee Miller is absolutely brilliant in the role, but I do agree that he and Dormer lacked any kind of sexual chemistry. He has much better natural chemistry with Liu, but Jonny and Lucy have also had 24

That whole mindset is remarkable now to me, considering I think Elementary actually trumps Sherlock in quite a few respects. I think Sherlock is a great show, but Elementary laps it in characterization. And while I know I'll catch hell for this, likely, I think Elementary has more soul. Elementary moves me.

At the risk of sounding like a ridiculous fan-girl, I want to say how awesome and refreshing you guys are. I was fairly engaged with this show from the Pilot, but when I started following you on Twitter I was just so impressed at the thought processes and the humor and the genuineness of the approach.

If I was a network exec, I'd do the following:

I don't know how to take the ratings last night. Disappointed or buoyed that a first-year show airing with a repeat as a lead-in got any numbers at all considering it was against Scandal, Grey's, American Idol, and the series finale of the Office? Someone tell me how to feel. I feel way too verklempt about this show's

Really great review.

I wonder now if she becomes Watson's nemesis. She wasn't clouded by her like Sherlock. She solved her. Diagnosed her. Does this now put Watson firmly in her cross-hairs in the future?

I already gave my general response, all positive, but can I give an extra bit of love to the bee scene? How completely lovely that parallel was. A rare, lonely bee that shouldn't be able to engage with the others finds another bee that helps make him whole. If they actually thought of that way back in 1x17, then I'm
