By coincidence, I finally watched "Batman Returns" for the first time last night.  Man, what a strange viewing experience twenty years after the fact.

My room in my Junior year shared a(n alarmingly thin) wall with a guy who also liked to play his stereo at weird hours.  Except the awful album he liked to foist upon the world was the Creed CD with a song that goes "What's this LI-IFE FOOOOOOOOR???" over and over.

I've said this upthread but it bears repeating: It is by far the most awful and disgusting scene in an entire movie *made* of awful and disgusting scenes.

Holy hell, I might have to listen to that episode now.

I'm a little miffed that this review skirted over the mall scene.  It's honestly one of the most disgusting, astonishing, and misguided moments I've ever seen in a film.  Doubly so, because it manages to stand out as the *most* truly awful scene in a movie full of truly awful scenes.

"Punch Drunk Love" has mystifying, slightly scary associations for me because after I watched it, I suddenly started crying hysterically.  I don't remember if it was due to the movie itself or extenuating circumstances, but either way I'm afraid to watch it again.

That helps explain some things.

Already mentioned it upthread, but it's stupid enough to bear repeating:

Funny thing is, replace "Ghost" with "Shrek" and the "Naked Gun 33 1/3" one is still funny.

Part of me loves the short original "Wizard of OZ" tagline:

I'm now reading every tagline in Mickey Mouse's voice.
