Yup, David Chase has confirmed that she was a huge inspiration for Livia Soprano.

Man, despite logging countless hours in Baldur's Gate II since I got it as a kid (and still never beating the damn game) I've never actually played Planescape: Torment. I've never been a big gamer, and pretty much never play games anymore besides the odd game of Smash or Tony Hawk on the N64, but if I ever get back

How good is Wet Hot American Summer? A.A. Dowd complimented it in a review of another movie by the same filmmakers.

I won't touch V For Vendetta, but as I say down thread Cloud Atlas was a flawed but still pretty great movie. All of my biggest problems with it (especially stuff like *SPOILERS* gutting the Frobisher story of all its emotional impact by changing his impetus for suicide) was completely necessary to keep the film from

I'm not that surprised though, the creators of one the most successful film franchises of all time are gonna get more limelight than the creator of cult adored 90s sci-fi show, whether the writer is aware of it or not.

Eh, I liked Cloud Atlas quite a bit, and was pretty thrilled that they brought one of my favorite books to screen about as best as possible, but there's no way it doesn't fall under the banner of "overreaching adaptation."

The Jango Fett/Obi Wan fight is probably the only worthwhile thing in all of the prequels. Its a legitimately exciting fight (unlike all the weightless acrobatic snorefests in those movies) and an interesting portrayal of how a skilled fighter could actually take on a Jedi.

I think the second Death Star would bother me way more if it didn't look so damn cool and imposing in its half finished state.

Jedi's got so much going for it though. The duel between Vader and Luke and Vader's redemption, the goofy but really fun Jabba's Palace scenes, "Its a trap!" and the assault on the second Death Star are all great.

My buddy described the documentary to me and I skipped it for the same reasons you list here, even though I normally devour Star Wars fan documentaries like the fan made "filmumentaries" or the Red Letter Media reviews. It just seems like a lot of people who (like myself) complain way too much about some terrible

Yes that is perfect. And pretty much every director the world over has one of those letters.

I think that's the best way to watch any movie really. Case in point, when Juno was in theaters I saw only knowing that it had some strong buzz and had actors I liked from Arrested Development, and I was therefore charmed by a sweet, shaggy, imperfect movie with some crappy Moldy Peaches songs. Same with seeing

I wouldn't call liberal arts degrees completely worthless though. I just graduated with a major in English and a minor history (two classic useless humanities degrees) and I use skills from those degrees every day at work. I work for a educational after school and summer program, writing curriculum in morning and

Thanks everybody, these responses were exactly what I was looking for! After reading the above one I think I'm gonna go back and start at the beginning, I thought the characters might be like something on Comedy Bang Bang where its funnier if you're familiar with a long running characters backstory, but still really

Awesome labels like Deathwish, and P.W. Elverum and Son putting their entire back catalogs on Bandcamp has made me so happy and is such a good move for those labels to get people into their music. I'm glad to see Jade Tree not only putting out that awesome Deep Blue 7" but also doing this, they've got a ridiculously

I've always wanted to get into the Chris Gethard show, but I'm a little daunted by the amount of episodes and the fact that its so caller/audience driven that catching up won't be as much fun as watching it love. Anybody wanna suggest a good starting place?

I can't wait for James Adomian to weigh in on this.

Nothing bad ever happens to the Kennedies!!!

I saw them shortly after seeing the Jesus Lizard on their reunion tour, and told Damien afterwards that they were the best live band I'd seen since that Jesus Lizard show, and he was super nice and flattered by the compliment (which I very much meant.) The dude seems like a real class act.

I've never listened to We Hate Movies, but I'm guessing that based on the title they talk about movies they dislike, which would mean that they dislike Mystery Men. Obviously that is physically impossible so that guess can't be right.
