"Shhhh, I'm trying to get some free dental work"

I loved when they did "Lets be Frank" within "Talkin' About Money" or whatever the money one is called. And you're right, those musical cues are really spot on.

Even the part where they talked about weddings was fucking hilarious. "You know, a station where people make food like…" "Snow cones!"

I was already doubled over in laughter at that point, and then when the first words the Staind guy sings are "mother" it was just too much. Hell I'm giggling right now just thinking about it.

In addition to making me crack up harder than I have at almost any podcast every, that episode made me want to go to one of his parties so bad!

"Running Up That Hill" and "The Best Ever Death Metal Band out of Denton" are two of my three favorite songs every. This is gonna rule!

I completely agree, I thought season 1 was well executed, but pretty much boilerplate antihero cable drama that was leavened by some nice period details, thrilling spy craft, and great music. This season has quickly made the show into my favorite thing on TV right now. I couldn't be more excited for the finale, or

Seriously, that was probably the most realistic depiction of sex I've seen on TV, ie it was the gross part that happens afterwards and not some weird "we went from kissing to fucking in 10 seconds flat" deal.

Man, Minus the Bear could be a really good band if they're singer wasn't so awful. Every single time I hear that band, I think "wow, thats a really cool riff, Dave Knudsen has still got it" and then the singing starts and I cringe.

Thanks for the info! A lot of the camera talk is over my head, but thats really interesting to hear about his influences, and that they shoot on 80s era lens.

Its rare but my cousin is a youth minister who takes his kids on trips like that this, and my uncle is a pastor for a similar church. That being said, my uncle has had to leave a good number of churches because they got too batshit conservative.

Nothing like killing an innocent kid and then stealing a man away from his family while he cries and calls you a monster a couple episodes later to remind the viewer your protagonists are some bad people!

I agree, all of that makes him a much more interesting character. He realizes that Kate isn't going to give up any information, and clearly respects her when he tells her she did her job well, and this kills her in a humane way. Of course, killing her like that is still incredibly shocking and super evil. He really is

That sounds fascinating, any chance you could link me to it? I tried googling but "American Cinematographer the Americans" gets a lot of different stuff.

Some day somethings coming, from way out beyond the stars, to kill us where we stand, it'll our brains in mason jars!

Absolutely, long after I quit watching Weeds I would check back every week for those Little Boxes covers ever week.

"The most remarkable thing about coming home to you is the feeling of being in motion again, its the most extraordinary thing in the world…I have two big hands and a heart pumping blood and 1967 colt 45 with a busted safety catch!"

I'd say (beyond John's obsession with metal) that its because his music taps into a lot of the same intense feelings that loud music taps into, at least with me. His description of how aggressive, heavy music is therapeutic is spot on for me.

His verse on Coffee is so awesome. I'd love to hear a record of John wailing over Def Jux beats.

Like all of his albums after Heretic Pride it took All Eternals Deck a while to grow on me, but damn do I ever like that album now. "Prowl Great Cain" is another fantastic song, especially the line "sometimes a great wave of forgetfulness rises up and blesses me"
