I haven't read Fault The Fault in Our Stars (although I've heard its great, and want to read it even more now that I know that the author quotes The Mountain Goats) but I can't imagine that book has anything close to the effect something like getting best new music on Pitchfork or something similar has had on people

All I can think of reading his name is Principle Scudworth from Clone High yelling "Mr. B!"

How Jon Wurster has managed to drum for some of the best bands out there pretty much full time (Superchunk work at a pretty relaxed pase these days, and its not like he's alway with The Mountain Goats or Bob Mould, but thats still a ton of touring) and regular kill it with Tom Scharpling and write for TV shows like

Has anyone listened to John's WTF interview? Its incredibly heavy but a must listen if you're interested in the context of of We Shall All Be Healed and The Sunset Tree. But man, it gets really hard to listen to in places.

That use of No Children might be my favorite musical cue ever.

"All roads lead toward, the same blocked intersection!" "Sax Rohmer #1" rips.

Hell yeah Heretic Pride is the best! Its by far my favorite of his post Sunset Tree records and by far his most underrated in my opinion. Also his most musically diverse by a long shot, which I really like.

I'm always bemused when I go to Mountain Goats shows and am reminded that I (a total Darnielle obsessive) am far from the guys biggest fan there.

I've always said that a Mountain Goats show is basically a standup/weird awesome storytelling show and a concert for the price of one.

Hell yeah, this is a very well selected intro. The Sunset Tree and All Hail West Texas are pretty much perfect distillations of boombox Mountain Goats and hi-fi Mountain Goats. I'd quibble a little bit about the steps after that (I'd pare We Shall All Be Healed with Zopolite Machine and maybe Heretic Pride, which I

I love Dry, but I'd give Rid of Me the edge by just a hair. The opening of "Rid of Me" into "Missed" is one of my favorite one two punches of any record.

I'm not sure if the dead possum one was in his standup, but he talked about it a bunch in his WTF preambles.

I think cutting it down to 12 episodes is the best move they could make. I really enjoyed these episodes much more than I expected I would, too. Hell I let out a cheer when Jack went all "I know you think your crew is pretty tough and have an advantage on me, but let me tell you do not" and then proceed to beat the

Josh Brenner was definitely my favorite part of season one. He's scored some of the biggest laughs on Silicon Valley too.

Thats definitely the best and most Louie-esque episode the show has done. Its not bad by any means, but I'd probably only recommend the show to people who like Maron in the first place (and even then with some reservations.)

I wouldn't say IFC is a questionable network, I think they're doing really well carving out a niche for themselves as the "alt comedy network" or whatever you wanna call it. Portlandia, The Birthday Boys, and CBB are all good to great, and it pretty much assures Bing Bong of getting as many seasons as it wants because

Yeah, I hate when his reviews go from insightful and hilarious to extremely awkward and rapey at the end of the segments. I'm also not a big fan of Half in the Bag and I wish he'd just go back to reviewing movies.

Maybe You, No One Else Worth It was one of my favorite records from last year, this is fantastic too. Seriously pumped to see them getting attention on here.

Its pretty amazing that they're still on such a hot streak. I think musically this record is a pretty bold leap forward too, I could not be happier with it after my first listen.

Godamn this record is so good! How did AJJ get even better? This made my day and then some.
