The Academy
doesn't like grim, violent movies so much, unless they are ultimately really uplifting, or David Lean-esque in their epic feel. Plus The Departed won last year, so it's really doubtful they'll go the grim, violent route two years in a row. At this point, my money's on Atonement. I haven't seen it yet,

Joy Division
Their influence on U2 is especially clear on this album. The cover is in that stark Factory model and could even be described as Anton Corbijn-esque and "With or Without You" is really U2's answer to "Atmosphere."

The wire
Seems like an obvious choice, but I assume you'll be writing on season five come January…

"too formulaic"
I meant to type. Also, while Bones is usually about self-contained mysteries, the "Gormagon" story looks to be a nice ongoing thread throughout the season.

Bones
I'd like to see this get a least one decent write up on here. While it might be to formulaic for week to week updates, it's consistently the best whodunit drama on television (way better than anything in Jerry Bruckheimer or Dick Wolf's arsenal) , especially of the science-themed sub-genre. Its lead in to

I would use the word to describe this show at its best (Rebirth). Thom P. Tiers is one of the great television characters of the decade.

I'm sure he'll yell about it plenty on his show.

not me
"My DVR'ed episode started with Casey being de-briefed on a rogue Chuck-like agent named Lazlo."

Y'ALL ARE WASTIN' YOUR TIME.

I fucking love Boggy Creek 2. It's awesome, the MST version has some of the funniest lines ever, and it was filmed in Arkansas, including my hometown, Fayetteville. Mike Nelson even makes jokes about the Razorbacks and our old basketball arena- he says the stadium is built next to a "giant Braun coffee grinder."

Christopher Atkins
Don't knock him. He is, after all, a two time recipient of the National Association of Theater Owners Star of the Year Award. First for The Blue Lagoon and then for Shakma.

Karl Urban?
Really???

KJB1
"As far as the film itself goes, it's overlong and a bit of a mess, but Fiasco? Batman & Robin, not THERE'S your fiasco…"

Patton Oswald
on George Lucas:

A total rip-off
of Anna Manesia…

Simpsons recycling extravaganza
Tonight's episode had Steve Buscemi returning after playing himself on the show a few years ago. The plot was a mash-up of the ep where Marge nurtures convict/artist Michael Keaton and the legendary Sideshow Bob Cape Fear episode. Is this recycling intentional or subconscious or just

way worse than "Young Folks"
Yes Young Folks has been overused (Channel 101 guys even parodied the uber-catchiness of the whistling back in February here:

That guy
from the documentary who wanted to be buried with his Real Doll is great. You know, the one with the gun collection.

Also, Small Paul
his B-story on the second episode of Aliens in America has been the very best thing about the new season.

Nice
"so that we can get back to spending more time with our DVDs of The Wire."
