a great documentary
This is definite A material. I haven't heard much talk about it, except for Jim Emerson who said it was the 10th best film of 2007. It's definitely one of the best documentaries of the past year. Here's a brief article broaching the subject:

It could be
the title is meant to convey to devout Christian parents that these are not your typical thieving/drinking/raping pirates of lore- these pirates don't do any of those things. In fact they don't do anything. Also, maybe the title was originally some punny play on "Pirates of the Caribbean," but Disney

Nathan Rabin
Can go ahead and write about this for Tuesday's MYOF entry.

religetables
Apparently NBC's legal staff has made it impossible to find this sketch anywhere on the nets, but you can find it on SNL's Best of TV Funhouse DVD and it's amazing.

fuck you
for posting this bullshit piece of shit video and fuck them to0.

goddamn
That guy from King of Queens was a funny motherfucker. I'll miss him, now that he's dead.

You picked a single quote and defeated the hell out of it! Instead of actually confronting any details! You are a master deabater! A WINNER IS YOU!

so very pissed
that I don't have and can't afford HBO. I'll probably follow suit with the rest of the series by watching the season when it comes out on DVD in a single weekend. I'll definitely be skipping these entries until then too.

sort of on topic
I went to see There Will Be Blood this weekend. This is one of those rare times where I agree 100% with Roger Ebert- excellent film, but several steps away from being a masterpiece, and not even Paul Thomas Anderson's best film. Two especially choice quotes:

I don't think it's an issue of sci-fi film, but of Hollywood movies in general. There are just flat out a shit load of remakes and sequels being made these days. The studios have to keep increasing profits every single quarter. That means less paid crew/writers/actors, more recycling of old ideas and franchises.

Rupert Holmes's musical
is actually called "The Mystery of Edwin Drood." It's based on the final and unfinished novel by Charles Dickens and it's pretty great. As it was never completed, the murderer is never revealed, so there are multiple endings with the audience voting for their favorite suspect every night.

A Child Goes Missing
I think I remember reading about the true story this movie's based on in Newsweek or something.

all one
I happened upon this movie on IFC or Sundance over the summer and was hooked. Fascinating stuff. Great soap, good movie.

My day has come
I've been waiting for this entry since MYOF began. I used to watch this movie all the time shortly after it came to video. I haven't seen it since I was about 9. Maybe the missus will be up for a screening this weekend.

deep crimson
Arturo Ripstein's 1996 telling of Beck/Fernandez killings is the best one out there. A great movie.

I've got a feeling…
I love (lurrrvve) Paul Thomas Anderson… but I have a feeling I'll fall in line with what Jim Emerson has written about this movie so far- just from the lengthy trailer I saw, it looks like Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Dano, the DP and the score all desperately trying to outdo each other for the MOST

striking audience?
Who is going to go on strike by not watching these shows when and if they come back on the air soon, sans writers? Anyone?

hurry! time is running out!

just for the hell of it:
