Up front: I am not opposed to homosexuality at all, and have campaigned for gay marriage in the past. But when it comes to moral/political/social issues, we have a tendency to demonize the other side and say "what the fuck is wrong with those people?" rather than understand the opposing perspective. So here's my best

The problem with doing Sandman as a TV show is that there's no way to depict the Dreaming in a compelling way on a TV-sized budget. I mean, there is a way, but it's bound to be disappointing. Morpheus rules over a realm of pure imagination, but spends all of his time in a castle…?

It turns out that the cursed emails originate from an evil supernatural force: the mailer daemon.

Are you seriously asking "Who in the World is Cameron Esposito?:" That's either incredibly ironic or unforgivably meta. Either way, I hate you.

They're always in the first place you look.

My read on the scene with the Mother talking to Max was that she didn't say no to Louis EVEN THOUGH Max gave her permission to move on, it was that she said no BECAUSE Max gave her permission to move on. She never loved Louis. So if she had felt like Max hadn't given her permission to move on, she would have felt like

Replacing cops with robots? Someone should make a movie about that.

"Is this bathwater?"
"Might as well be; it's rosé."

I love FilmCritHulk, but I never really was on board with this point. To go to another point that FilmCritHulk makes again and again in his columns, when it comes to films, the ending is the conceit. That's where you really make your point and underline it, and the rest of the film should be looked at through the lens

This is a great idea. What I always loved most about Magic: The Gathering was its plot and set of characters. They have a really strong base to build on here when it comes to writing a screenplay.

Minuses are made up.

This movie is so damn good, you guys. Just saw it and it kind of blew me away. The only complaint I have is that Amy Adams's character felt a little hollow. She is introduced well, but then she just kind of becomes a cypher. That serves a plot purpose, as trying to figure out her motivations is one of the mysteries of

That's what she said.

New Girl is hardly groundbreaking, but I tend to laugh a lot while watching it, and don't plan on stopping watching it any time soon. Two things to keep in mind: First, this show was marketed as a Deschanel vehicle, but it's really an ensemble piece. The show got immeasurably better when it toned down on the twee

Flogging Molly's "Black Friday Rule." Love it.

Here's another article I found on badassdigest:

Getting notifications through AVClub is KEY FUNCTIONALITY for me. It's why I use the site. I watch a lot of TV, but not everything on TV, and having handy filters that told me whenever one of the shows that I watch has a new episode or some news story break is incredibly handy.

The proposal scene really didn't do anything for me. Maybe if we knew The Mother and had ANY context whatsoever to the proposal, it would have resonated more. And it anything that had happened previously in the episode built to that moment, it would have felt earned. As is, it just felt tacked on.

My little sister had nightmares for MONTHS because of the Ghastly Grinner.

Man, I am NOT looking forward to the Season 2 Hannibal-as-shoplifter arc.
