I think they are, to varying degrees. It's really a wonky-shape shifter of a movie – you never really know where it's headed. And even though it had its share of laughs, it really conjured up a sense of existential dread that kinda just simmers in the background for a while. Unassuming while watching it (till shit

Eight year olds, Dude.

This movie is actually excellent. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I saw it last week. Really like nothing else out there. It's kinda like Christopher Guest, mixed with liberal doses of Harmony Korine, Lynch, and Cronenberg. See it if you get the chance.

But doesn't realize he's more like Observe and Report

I thought you did a great job on this @avclub-5fcb7f9c321885a69a4f91cb553fa04d:disqus . Gave a lot of attention to a show more people need to see. Made me wonder why you don't do the recaps for TVClub since you seem so into it.

Well, me and the rest of the class learned our lesson the next month, when she gave us the option between a "creative project" and a normal assignment, and we all picked the normal one. Then we all had to write a 20 page paper about evolution, and that put us in our place.

Once, in high school AP Biology, our teacher who liked to assign "creative projects" asked us to write a short story about the parts of a cell. I thought this project was asinine, so I made a mockery out of it in a way only an overachiever could: I wrote a 10 page quasi-Osmosis Jones fanfic that technically did

I think I win with regards to bio teachers, actually. Not only did we watch this movie, but also spent a week on "Bio-Dome," because (and I quote): "It's kinda a dumb movie, but it has bio in the title, and it is like a little bit about environments and shit."

That is actually a great story.

This is a severely underrated album. "You Have To Be Joking" is absolutely beautiful, and the opening track is incredibly catchy and fun, while still keeping all of that glorious guitar noise in it. Drozd's drumming is really the only thing that really seems missing on this album. Definitely fits in with the

Wilfred's monologue about himself involving the plane crash and the laughing was one of the most inspired dialogue based rake-gags I've seen in a while. Perfectly delivered. That is all.

He truly was one of the most underrated drummers of his time. The precision with which he played was astounding, and his drum sound was great. His parts were always creative, deceptively complex, and on point — but never invasive or distracting.

who is this colin guy

Jesus, that somehow managed to look even stranger than the original. But that Rat is wearing a goddamn visor. I call shenanigans.

Thank you for reminding me that Bananas in Pyjamas was a thing. I used to watch it all the time as a kid, and had damn near forgotten about its existence. It never really caught on I guess, but I loved it.

Different direction? Not following the formula? So I guess this will be the bizarro Hangover Part III.

This is yet another case of a trailer taking beat by beat through the story of the whole movie, save for the final 5 minutes or so. I am sick of this shit. Yeah, I know this is based on a true story. so most people wh are interested have a fairly good idea of where it's going, but come on. A trailer should not be the

Did anyone else notice the really weird looking drawing on Ryan's board of him and his dad? Was it just me, or did he draw his dad as some kind of weird looking animal thing? Either way, it was odd. We're definitely going to be seeing Ryan's dad soon I think…

@avclub-eac75edc18b8546c46893fe4b75ab995:disqus Yeah, that's the point, and why I really like it. They treat his mental disorder relatively seriously, even though it manifests itself in humorous ways (like Wilfred, but even he has a dark streak).
