To be fair, those were all of my favorite professors in film school; the ones who were very clearly passionate for non-canon choices. Plus, my favorite works of film theory/criticism are the ones where it clearly comes through that the person loved the film —it's always better to have that gut reaction of love first,

No Young Pope, no Vice Principals, no dice.

Yeah, I mean, especially because he proposed to his girlfriend not five days ago live at WrestleMania because of course he did.

No love for Wan? I'd say he's got a pretty identifiable style/set of motifs on lock now, and fwiw I dig him.

This movie looks like a mess, and while I'll eventually get around to watching the original because of all of the praise, nothing I've heard about this property has entirely convinced me it's not just a self-serious "Inspector Gadget."

Wasn't there some talk of a Yoda standalone flick a while back? Certainly made more sense to me than the Boba Fett adventure that was nearly a done deal.

Are there any episodes you'd recommend off the top of your head that really embodies those attributes? I mean, I've got enough residual nostalgia for the good seasons of the show that I'd be willing to check out a couple of the better episodes — but not necessarily looking to wade through a couple of full network

It seems they've robbed everyone of em.

You snark, but I mean, as far as these things go, this is about as slam-dunk as you can get in terms of pairing a director with source material that fits both his career's thematic and visual motifs. Not saying this will be *good*, but out of all of the Disney live action remakes, this makes the most sense to me. And

Ah yeah, I never did that, and it's been causing me trouble ever since. Not like I'm the most active on here anyway, but I'd hate to have this account be totally non-functional. I'm pretty attached at this point haha.

I'm also apparently not logged in somehow on the sidebar newswire comments? @Dikachu:disqus — do you also have an old AVC account, or did you switch to Disqus? Is the new comment system there just not working at all for older accounts or am I just stupid?*
*I know, it can be two things.

I actually watched that movie for the first time last night, and commented that it was like if Hitchcock seeped through a cheesecloth into the 80s. It was fucking bonkers. I also might have been h*gh.

Yeah, and he's racist too!

Nonagon Infinity is a fucking masterpiece. Can't wait to give the new record a serious spin.

And I'd listen to him too — the man can see the future!

Ouch, don't remind me. He also went to a buddy of mine's military academy (other notable alum include Stephen Sondheim).

Well, personally, I'm still kinda pissed that "Anomalisa" wasn't nominated for Best Picture last year, and then lost Best Animated to the overrated "Inside Out." Kinda feel if something like that couldn't make it (from an Academy approved filmmaker), it seems like a crazy long shot to think anything else might.

See, I'd say they very often *nominate* the right things, but then, as you say, don't actually reward them. Things like Boyhood or Pulp Fiction that are excellent, touchstone movies do get the noms, but then they get trigger shy when it comes to giving the statue to something safer — which, as time goes on, and these

I mean, adults are the ones who work at high schools? I knew people substitute or student teaching around that age — hell I went to a Catholic school, where at least a couple of the full-time staff were like 22 or something (no MA requirement there). I wouldn't put it past someone as dim as the dealer on the show to

Re: the cat: For me, an added layer of hilarity comes from the fact for Zach G. and co., "Will Ferrell" also happens to be a real dude they straight up know/are friends with (they've worked with each other many times).
