My dad took me to Alien when I was 14 - has to be one of the greatest endings I have ever seen…. after Ripley gets away in the shuttle and Im thinking "why isn't the movie over yet" and then the creepiness raises the hairs…. Then you get to see a young Sigourny in her panties putting the space suit on and pushing out

When my nephew was little he was terrified of ET - His older brother had a doll my sister ended up having to get rid of. That same nephew also had an imaginary friend (talking duck) who gave him advice. I think he turned out fine though…

Funny - I can still remember that "No Dogs Allowed" song and sing it to my daughter's dog when occasion warrants such a thing… but I cant remember anything else about that cartoon. Music and song are my hooks into everything.

If the whole movie was as good as the opening sequence (bank robbery) it would be a comedy classic today instead of the sleeper it is.

Paul was originally a guitarist but got stuck on the bass after Stu Sutcliff left the band and Pauls guitar was stolen in Germany. He became influential when he started playing melodies instead of root notes in songs like Something.

She turned me hard as stone….

A friend of mine works at a major concert venue told me the Rider for Neil Diamond required that nobody working the venue talk to him or even have eye contact. If Neil were to walk by, you were supposed to look down and stand still 'til he passed. Conversely, the nicest celebrity he met there was David Crosby who had

Strange Magic is a great song. Its got atmosphere…

Is that the show where one of the puppets was obsessed with paintings of Gazelles?

Bob Odinkirk to yell "God Dammit" when everything goes wrong…

Yep, one moment your pinching their cheek because of how adorable they are and the next moment they are biting you.

And so it was that Binky was the monster at the end of this thread. No Wait, I'm now the last one posting… THE MONSTER IS ME!!! Nooooooooooooo!!!!

Le Guin is one of my favorite writers - I started working my way through her other novels a few years ago and was amazed by the quality. Books in her Hainish Cycle are some of the best Science Fiction I've ever read.

I still think its in my top ten today. Getting about time for a third read. Ive read a couple of other Adams books (Plague Dogs & Shardik) but they were not as good. Did he ever write anything else that great?

Im 49 and have finally got the Tripod Series ready to read (been collecting them over the years from used book store finds) - looking forward to it. I also read a lot of John Wyndham over the last few years - Triffids was great & the rest of his work is too good to have been missed by me for so long.

The Little House books are a great read (My sister had them and I went through them after her). Another book about pioneering is The Yearling - such great descriptions of what it was like to live like that.

That is one of the greatest books to read as an adolescent under the covers with a flashlight late into the night….

I still have the first book I used to read to my daughter when she was a baby up until she could read it to me - "I am a Bunny" - I can not even open it today without getting hit by an emotional tidal wave.

I read Portnoy's Complaint at around 30 and was not impressed. Its the only book of Roth's Ive read and sometimes I wonder if it was not a good place to start. The guy gets such high praise in the media I think I either just dont get it or I should try something else.

I've read that series twice - which is rare for me. Its just that good.
