Yertle the Turtle & The Sneetches were my two favorite books as a child - I still have my copies (torn and ragged as they are) - I still crack-up to the story of the scary pants & The Zax - moralizations that even a child can understand.

The two books Ive read the most after first reading as a teenager are Jonathan Livingston Seagull & Siddhartha - I still enjoy picking them up every 10 years or so for another read, I believe they keep me grounded.
I wonder how many people (like me) were first introduced to Sparks from the movie "Rollercoaster" - in Sensurround! They were the band playing at the theme park while Timothy Bottoms was setting his explosives and George Seagal was trying to stop him. My 13 year old thoughts? - "Hey, why does that keyboard player have…
They did but they skipped Elton John's Tiny Dancer and the greatest masturbation song of all time: R. Stevie Moore's "First Hand"
For some good anti-Falklands War punk - try Crass' "Yes Sir, I Will". 30 minutes of screaming screed with a 30 second beautiful piano interlude. If you can make it through the whole thing you get a medal.
If this news can upset Hitler so much, what chance do I have?
But then if it doesn't, those rats feel horribly cheated.
I had a bad feeling after Koski's tweet - but maybe this will be for the best (I'm a glass half full kind of guy) & this new site could be great - I'm already familiar with their writers!
I clicked 445 & I am a lot like Hitler in that I wish my close friends and loved ones would not smoke cigarettes. Also, eating meat is hard on my digestion.
Some musicologists think Delta 88 was the first true "Rock" song ever written.
Yeah - poor Exene was dealing with her sister Mary's death.
I went to the '83 Grad Night at Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA. The band that played - REM. Nobody came to see them (OK there were probably 20 people in the audience and the park was packed). They played at the same venue that Spinal Tap played with Puppet Show…
After every show Billy takes a picture of the audience, I'm not sure what he does with them though….
but The Doors do have Bass - though most of the time its played on Keyboards live they did use studio musician bass players for much of the studio albums & I'm pretty sure Ive seen at least one photo with them on stage with a bass player.
Shut up Pops!
E.Buzz Miller - Im sure he would not have liked you hanging with him then as I've heard he was quite fond of punching babies.
I know this is late for a reply but I dont think he was bashing Van Morrison. "the safe bet means your listening to van morrison in the distance" reminds me of a friend of mine I grew up with who meeting again after many years, I asked if he was still a fan of Neil Young (when growing up he used to listen to him alot…
Especially from those who never actually met him.
Hey, I will defend the Furs as having more going on than a John Hughes' soundtrack song - Alice's House is still one of my favorite songs from the 80's.
If you love Tom Petty and have not bought "The Live Anthology" - get it! - Its amazing how Petty & Co. can make almost every song EPIC.
