Its still a pretty big book - I read it at a time in my life when I had hours a day to read and it still took me 3 weeks. These days that could be 3 months. I also did not find it a difficult book to read at all unlike Pynchon, Faulkner or Rushdie when I first tried them.

I understand the feeling - I've had Delilo's Underworld sitting on my shelf for a year and keep putting other books in front of it. I'm looking forward to reading it but it still seems daunting.

I can't understand the anger over Jackson wanting to make these films considering all of the horrible crap that comes out of Hollywood year after year.
