I dunno, I think the Madchester and shoegaze movements had a lot to offer (and, obviously, made a pretty lasting impression). Britpop as a response to those styles is, at least for me, a bit of a step toward the boring rather than away from it.
I think NME's obsession with Oasis permanently damaged their cred
Actually, if any song in this thread sounds exactly like 1996, it's Alright, thanks in no small part to Clueless
Yeah, definitely. Champagne Supernova's true flaw is that it (and Oasis) just got too big for its britches.
Oh I hadn't even thought about the fact that it's network. Never mind what I said below about any small glimmer of hope.
Wow, I was really not looking forward to the US butchering of one of my favorite shows of all time, but they've stacked the cast with ringers. Dare I hope this could turn out well?
Oh. my. gawd.
@avclub-7928cdc9a5040872be11e87e9bef1d67:disqus I agree with you completely, but mostly I just want to congratulate you on the greatest name I have ever seen on this website.
I have a question for the Justified fans: What's the timeline of this show? I'm rewatching season 2/3, and Winona announces she's pregnant at the end of Season 2. Which means we're a season and (more than) a half in, and it hasn't even been 9 months.
Yeah, the snot thing is from the record—at least one traveler (Ibn Fadlan) visiting the Vikings noted it. But there's speculation that he was exaggerating and it might not be an accurate description.
I never expected History to actually reference real history. Now that I've seen they will, I'm hooked (until they get something egregiously wrong and lose every bit of good will they've built with Lindisfarne and their familiarity with Ibn Fadlan)
I know—that's what kept throwing me off while I was watching
I knew I recognized the voice from Justified, but I kept thinking I was tricking myself just because that character looked so much like Jim Beaver.
Don't you bring the Carter Family into this.
All four entries: Red Hot Chili Peppers covers
Hey, I can think of at least three DC songs off the top of my head—it's a great candidate for this! (Note: commenter may have certain DC biases)
I love this idea for a series. AV Club picking up where Sufjan left off.
A wonderful secret that too few people take advantage of is store stylists. Free service most places (I think J.Crew charges? maybe?). You just call ahead at your local Macy's or Nordstrom's or even chains like Banana Republic, set up an appointment with a stylist, and they tell you what works. They're knowledgeable…
Did your friend take the style tips to heart? Was it truly a self-confidence building experience?
