@Tomwaits Yes, it is novel, and I for one am glad to see it. Look at Van Morrison. Nobody ever judged him by his looks.

As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls.

Well, boi gringo, next year they could be naming them Oklahoma, or Utah, or Florida, ya know.

..
Once again, another great buzzkill.

Ellie- I'm on record as not liking The Wall, but that was sad with the rat. Also, the NobodyHome part when he's flipping channels. It's touching how miserable Pink looks there.

Demy
Umbrellas Of Cherbourg - Excellent, Tobias! I thought I was the only one in the world left who has seen it.

@phellatio What, man? Did the person who goes by the avatar "phel" turn you down for a date, or what? You don't even know who he/she is. How can anybody harbor such malice toward an anonymous entity commenting on pop culture, for chrissakes? If you have some hate to take out,go do it on the NRA site.

Joe Mangtenga
As Joey Zaza was a definite highlight to a very underrated movie. I am on record as believing Part II to be the best movie ever made, but I think the Part III sucks talk to be a little reactionary.

I was born in 1970. My parents stopped buying records after getting married, more or less. I can remember hearing this stuff before I can remember Sesame Street, Mr Rogers, or any TV. My mom used to make something for dinner called Brazilian Hamburgers, and we would play Sergio Mendes records for hours!

@AJR- The first 3- "Herb Alpert Presents", " Equinox", And "Look Around" is some of the most lovely, flawlessly performed, blissful music ever made. Mendes was notorious for his rehearsals.

@sugartits- Chris Montez was on A&M for awhile- "The More I See You" was his big hit.

Oh-and also Burt Bacharach and The Baja Marimba Band.

@Phantom Raspberry Holy cow that's some euphoric music!

Wow
Sometimes the AVC really makes me feel old. The records always played around the house were CCR's Willy and the Poor Boys, Dylan's Bringing It All Back Home, Simon And Garfunkle's Bridge Over Troubled Water, and in the lighter moments, Herb Alpert&the Tijuana Brass, Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66, Claudine Longet,

@MacBeth Man, oh man is that a great book! And although I love the guy, He hasn't changed much since writing it. Well, maybe the coke, but not the booze. Oh well, me either.

@Twogreattastes Yes, I'm definitely in the minority as far as The Byrds and Burrito Brothers goes. Looking back, the love I had for GP/Grievous Angel had more to do with Emmylou Harris than Parsons. I had never heard a voice like that before, and fell in love with it. My favorite mid to late period Byrds was always

Yes,
I got G.P. and Greivous Angel in 94 because it was the hip thing to do. Ended up falling in love with them. This 2 record 1 disc set got me into Emmylou, Then Merle Haggard, and George Jones. Loved the Parsons solo stuff even more than Sweetheart of the Rodeo, The Guilded Palace of Sin,even.

I think it would be cool if mbs got to be the next Zach Handlen, and join the ranks.

What's with all the Darjeeling hate? It's not his best, but…..

I was 16 when I saw my first xxx. Ms Chambers sure made my day, and am glad My first was not Cum-drunk Gutter Sluts vol 25 or any of the degrading crap they make now.
