But Cirie was a captain.

I've been on a few. It's true that I can't confirm that every director ever has done it, but in my experience, it's very common.

How is it backwards? Leo and Kristen specifically said that whoever directs the movie has to be careful with the portrayal of the prostitute character so as not to get into slut-shaming. No one else really brought it up (that we saw, anyway).

Yeah, it seems to me he's rewritten Salem's Lot three or four times, but the original is still the best.

Sometime in 2014, I think, but there's no firm release date yet. I actually just finished it last week.

Windmill, yes. Tulip festival, no.
