I think it's more in the structure. To have seen the Daily Show is to have a very immediate analog. Not that an American who has never watched it wouldn't know what a parody news show is, but I don't know if they would connect to the Day Today as quickly. There aren't exactly a bevy of parody news shows out there.

Is it safe to assume the show will be set in Boston?

You should have shown it to your smart American friends!

I have read that very young children's sense of hearing works better with higher pitches which is why mothers tend to coo to their children in higher-pitched voices without even meaning to. I don't know at which age this changes.

I had no idea who Seb Coe was until I watched twenty twelve (the British show about the team organizing the 2012 London olympics, not the movie about the apocalypse). They mentioned him so many times (and he appeared on the show) I had to look him up just to see who he was and why they needed him to be their spokesman.

Yeah, I didn't mean to lump it in with the other two since it's a completely different kind of show. But what a show! Some of it was…distressing…

Thanks so much!

I don't think it could be mass-marketed, not only because of its Britishness, but because it deals so much with issues that were facing Britain in the 90s and so most Americans would be a bit lost among all of those references. An American who watches a lot of British television (not just the shows that make it to

There's also the sheer insanity of Jam.

I've only seen the show on region 2 dvd. British shows like this are the reason I got a region-free player (well, a really cheap region 1 player that had a known hack so I could reset the region code to 0). Look up your dvd player and see if anyone knows the hack to change the region code. If you can do it, it's well

Gargh I hate disqus. Despite being logged in it keeps redirecting to a login page whenever I click on the notifications bubble. What's more confusing is that the login I use for the avclub is not valid through the regular disqus so I can't login that way. Is there something I should be doing? I had this account well

Not true. When I lived in Massachusetts, I discovered that they say it there, too. I was stunned.

I was born in Illinois, so for the first 6 years of my life, everyone said "pop." Then my family moved to Wisconsin, to a suburb of Milwaukee where everyone said "soda" and I eventually adapted (though my father never did). It wasn't until I was in college that I learned that actually most of Wisconsin says "pop" and

Not necessary to wait for summer. It's not like watching a Christmas movie in July or something.

My memory was a bit off. It was ECW owner Paul Heyman he smashed the guitar over. This is only a short clip (and poor quality) but here it is. The bit had begun with Billy Corgan in the ring saying he was going to perform a song for the fans when Paul Heyman showed up to yell at him. There's another bit later on, I

Back in 2000, I think, Corgan appeared on ECW and smashed his acoustic guitar over a wrestler's head. Steve Corino, IIRC. It was awesome.

The second season also had a lot more focus on the other dolls, namely Sierra and Victor and that was a major plus because they were awesome.

I'm not sure what the first movie I saw in theaters was (I'm not 100% sure I saw Follow That Bird in the theater but I think I did) but I definitely remember seeing An American Tail and I would have been 5. I know it's not the first movie I saw but it's one of my earliest movie memories. I remember seeing the
