It's actually more traumatizing than that. They were in the Swamps of Sadness and Artax let the despair get to him and sank into the swamp and died while Atreyu begged and pleaded for him to do anything but let himself sink. That's a lot for a kid to unpack!
ARTAX, PLEASE!
There's a re-edit on vimeo somewhere that is *only* the Julia parts. I believe it's called Julie & Julia without Julie or something to that effect.
The most disturbing tidbit I ever read about that Dennis Hopper basically said that he was exactly like Frank Booth.
Louise Fletcher. Won the oscar for it, too!
That wasn't the point of the scene. The point was how JGL's character felt in that moment. He FELT like Han Solo. I was using it as an example on how iconic Harrison Ford as Han Solo is.
There's a reason why, in 500 Days of Summer, when JGL looks at his reflection during his post-coital celebratory dance sequence, he sees Han Solo.
Jonathan Crombie as Gilbert. RIP
PFT as Werner Herzog has weirdly replaced actual Werner Herzog in my head.
I just posted about Louise Fletcher. Would be a drastically different movie with either cast change.
Ooh, over 1200 comments so I'm probably naming a role that's already been mentioned but Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched. I've also read the book and found it to be a very different experience from the movie, so I couldn't actually picture any of the actors while reading it. Regardless, I can't imagine a different…
I first learned of her many years ago when a music professor played some of her rendition of the Queen of the Night aria and told a story (that I hope is in the film) of how she was riding a taxi that had a minor accident and she found that her F was a bit sharper (but still flat) afterwards so she sent the taxi…
The BBC has lost a great deal of material over the years. I'm not at all surprised that stuff as recent as the 80s were still being lost.
OH GOD, WHO'S IN THE SACK
The lyrics are "kiri kiri kiri"
The only answer I can come up with is "Alligator" which I saw part of when I was about 4 or 5 and seeing a kid get eaten by an alligator which had gotten in his swimming pool (and was quite bloody) sent me screaming to the safety of my bedroom and I've never gotten around to revisiting it, partly because I like that…
I don't recall people complaining about having to sit through Fast Times at Ridgemont High…
And Fires of Pompeii featured Capaldi's first appearance on Doctor Who.
So I guess they finally got around to finishing this thing, huh? It had to have been maybe 5 years ago when I first heard they were making this movie. I'm amazed it's even getting a theatrical release but maybe they were able to do something decent enough with it.
