Would this be a bad time to announce my new show, Scribing Spectrum?
Jesus Christ. Does -everybody- need to be an asshole now?
You guessed it! Frank Flintstone!
"Jack the Dog." A legendary animated character rivaled only by Homer Stimpson and Samurai Jork.
If things go completely sideways and everybody gets involved, I worry about Russia suddenly remembering that they could just go north over the Arctic into Canada.
For me the saddest thing about the outbreak of WWIII is that I just -know- I'll be reading some poorly-researched thinkpiece about the implied politics of a fucking neo-retro 'Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy' trance remix when the nuke hits.
I 100% agree with and appreciate the text of this article.
So hey: I'm just a guy on the internet, but for more than 15 years I've read, loved and learned from the AV Club. Through redesigns and staff exoduses and editorial pivoting, a large amount of my user experience has always been in the comment section. It took me way too long to begin to participate, and I'm not one of…
I look forward to being known as @avclub-80a3f634893bdf5d63c679e5f99182b2
yuck
My wife is hating how often I'm speculating who was actually in the room with each other at the same time. I suspect that plotting out very complicated editing and greenscreen schedules might have overwhelmed the actual plotting. Oh, and then let's add whatever jokes we can.
I've been beating this drum for a while now, but here goes:
I'll concede that most of the humour comes from its charm and degree-of-difficulty aspects—I especially loved Jess and Zach's battle of wills over the Long Beach Harbor|Georgia Harbor plot direction—but they still found a way to resolve the plot line in a way that incorporated the contributions of both.…
PFT's was the best overall musical, but Tarver's had the best songs. But if the Holland & Tarver eps are any indication of how they'll play with non-singers, then I think they're in fine shape. As long as the guests are game, it shouldn't be a problem.
Off Book: I don't know that I've heard any comedy podcast episode hit as consistently as the stretch containing We Forgot We Were Bears, If I Can't Clipper, Walking Down the 101 and Crazy In Love. I've already listened to it at least 10 times now.
Oh, I wasn't taking your comment to task at all! It was just a jumping off point for my little mini-tirade. I know that the merits or demerits of "It's Pat" are a weird catalyst, but the increasing subordination of craft to optics is just really bumming me out.
I'll add that if Soloway's frustration comes from Pat being a constantly repeated go-to reference point among the general public, then that's fair.
That's the thing about humour. Was the joke on Pat, or was the joke on the people who were so uncomfortable with Pat's very self-assured existence that they did social backflips in order to define Pat? Are -all- jokes that mention race racist, or are some about how stupid racism is?
