I don't know about subways, but I applauded their realistic depictions of airplanes. Airplanes in movies and on TV always have all this room for people to move around in, but in Seinfeld the passengers are uncomfortably crammed in there.

The "caught" look on his face before he says it is amazing.

Sooner than you think! I just watched it yesterday, so almost in the same month as you.

Put me down for late-period Elaine, curls and the dark lipstick. She was like a cute little goofy office Baroness.

Thanks HipsterDBag - that sums it up well.

I don't think it's that Beck isn't insane, so much as when people talk about people who "are living in paranoid bubbles of their own making, bunkered down by ideology" there are plenty of examples at both ends of the political spectrum.

I agree, but your post will fall on mostly deaf ears here.

Sillier than Wolverine played by a clean-cut, tall handsome guy?

biographies
If you're interested in Burroughs, I highly recommend his two major biographies, Literary Outlaw and El Hombre Invisible. In addition to his life they offer a lot of criticism (positive and negative).

+1

classic TV/movie sci-fi
Isn't most of his career "an homage to the sci-fi films Abrams loved as a teenager"?

Shoulder Upholster - McCready admitted in a guitar magazine interview that he stole that solo from some KISS song, and that they stole it from "Five to One."

AV Club writers, this is your last chance to impress me.

engineering set
If I remember correctly, the TNG technical manual from Pocket Books had a little footnote saying they threw engineering into the pilot because if they didn't use a set for the pilot, there was less of a chance they would get the money to build it for later episodes.

He was great as Martian Manhunter in the New Frontier animated movie too. Completely opposite from everything I'd seen him in before, and he nailed it. A wise, gentle Martian imitating a tough TV cop would sound exactly like Ferrer's voice in that movie.

Robin's sultry line about peeing herself
That line was a bit of a shock for a primetime sitcom, although it shouldn't be, at least in the age of Family Guy. Maybe it was because it was so unexpected. (Or maybe because it was so hot.)

"politically edgy"?
Probably 95% of the corporations in fiction are soulless or evil, and if they play a major role in an action or sci-fi genre show they are trying to take over the world.

I agree. It's how real hipster teenagers talk, until they grow out of it, which is part of what happens in the movie.

elements
There was one other element missing: Void, also known as formlessness, emptiness…wait a minute, I think we had plenty of that one.

Sorry: "always took that (the automatic door) and the 6=1 reveal"
