Yeah, I dunno there. I have friends who identify as "they", and it seems shitty to ignore that request even if (or especially if) I were mad at them. Of course, it also seems even shittier to rape people, so maybe there's no winner here today.

It actually seems misapplied in this piece, now that I've finished reading the linked article- there, "Jen" is identified as "she", but here "Jen" is identified as "they".

According to the linked article, they ("they" in this case being everyone involved with the story) prefer gender-neutral pronouns, so I assume the AVC is just trying to honor that.

Hmm, well, I think that's kind of a hard call to make so early in the game, when I'm clearly still meant to feel like I'm behind the eight ball. Right now, the majority of the tension comes from the mimics, and it generates more of a low-level paranoia than anything else. I'd say it's about on par with Dead Space in

Just started Prey last night and I'm really enjoying it so far. The most remarkable thing, I think, is how closely it mimics (for lack of a better phrase) the feeling of playing System Shock 2 for the first time, while incorporating a gorgeous sense of design and place, but somehow without feeling like a ripoff of

All these characters appear to have two hands!

I only really got into him when he became the first writer to ever make the Fantastic Four interesting to me. His original run was highly recommended to me, so I wound up checking it out and loving it. I'm a little cooler on some of his other stuff, but I'll always be a fan for his FF run alone.

I'm not fat! You can tell by my very oversized tie and billowy shirts that I have the best body! I'd take off my shirt to prove it but I don't want to embarrass Alex or Vladimir!

Loser Colbert only gets one scoop of ice cream on his pie! Sad! I get two scoops and extra Thousand Island, which is good for America!

She can turn into both, actually.

I was referring specifically to Norm from Cheers.

[insert three densely-populated text boxes of interior monologue, fretting about the appropriate response and my relative levels of popularity as a commentor on the AV Club]

That is correct. She also has your standard "heals faster than normies", "stronger than normies", "better senses than normies"-type powers.

She's basically a werewolf, which is, y'know…cool.

That's true, though he was always the guy who actually raised her.

Ok, New Mutants is actually my favorite Claremont X-team, so I'm…kind of excited? I feel like I shouldn't be, but here we are.

Her dad was a religious nut who, in typical X-Men style, believed her powers came from Satan.

In the short-lived Marvel series "The Initiative", there was a character named "Butterball", whose power was basically total invulnerability. The problem was, his powers kicked in when he was an overweight, out of shape teen, and it meant his body was permanently locked into a state of overweight out of shapeness.

"John Romero is going to make you his SMILF"

I actually kind of love this. It's one of those things where I can't explain why I think it's funny to send someone a cake with a shitty message of their own design on it, but it does in fact crack me up.
