Disagree. It's lacking one of the necessary components of a great action film: sense of danger. You know he's getting through the whole thing without a scratch.

Same with Ai Weiwei.  There's no thinking behind it, he just likes them.

I think Ai is too emotionally involved to be objective anymore.  Which is understandable, the guy nearly died from the blow to the head he received.  Not to mention the indignities his father suffered as an artist during the Cultural Revolution.

That's my favorite too.  It's more dark and gritty than bizarre, which is probably why they don't like it as much.  I really wish they did more in the same vein.

I agree that Nakadai was way more of a chameleon.  For instance, Nakadai plays the main heavy in both Yojimbo and Sanjuro yet he is almost unrecognizable in the latter.  He could play swaggering badass or disturbed wallflower equally well.
