I really wanted to like this movie and there are certainly elements that work like gangbusters (basically everything from the build-up to the crash to its immediate aftermath - though physically upsetting?  C'mon Keith), but there were too many problems for me to embrace it entirely.  I've posted elsewhere about how

I found Reilly's entire character extremely problematic.  The problem you mention here stuck out to me at the time, but I was willing to roll with it and assume it would pay off in some way.  Instead, we get an extremely rote addiction recovery story and her disappearance halfway through the movie.  My sense is that

Guess I'm a little older, because I remember him as Lex Luthor on Lois and Clark.  Been a few years since that one.

Completely agree.  My relationship with Memento is a bit complex.  First saw it as a freshman in college and was blown away.  A couple repeat viewings made me notice some plotting issues and inconsistencies.  But then I was through to the other side and able to appreciate the thematical richness.  Every time I watch

@avclub-9b3eca27b368c5a2a7efc94dc5c4afc5:disqus is correct.  Kent wanted to vote Katie.  Dawson made it seem like the needling had been going on all along, but the editing made it seem that Jeff just clued in while they were deciding who to vote out.

@avclub-9b3eca27b368c5a2a7efc94dc5c4afc5:disqus @hornacek:disqus I had thought though about Boston Rob on Redemption Island.  I didn't recall him having much of a gut in Heroes vs. Villains and wondered if he intentionally bulked up.

I have never understood why people think Chris Hardwick is funny.  He seems to think loud=funny.

31/40 - I watched most of these during long lazy days in college that most people spent drinking.  Now I'm drinking when everyone else is having babies.  Not sure if I'm doing things right or wrong.

Agreed.  And while it is certainly not going to be everyone's cup of adorable tea, Alison Brie and Emily Blunt as Elmo and Cookie Monster was enough to make me recommend the whole movie.

I've been listening to The Book Was Better (a podcast where the discuss novelizations of books) and want to thank whoever recommended it on here a couple weeks back.  Really enjoying it.

Why does Rabin say that "
with the exception of his rare, dramatic disorder, it’s easy to believe"?  Birbiglia actually has this affliction, right?  So then why is it hard to believe that his character has it?
