I was cautiously optimistic too, until I found out that the movie was helmed by a commercial director making his debut.  So often that's an early warning sign for bad movies.  While I realize every auteur must start somewhere, even David Fincher began his career with Alien3.  Even if this person had good ideas that

I was going to make a That Thing You Do! reference but then I remembered that the band Johnathan Schaech's character forms after the movie was called The Heardsmen.

My father drank himself to death.  And yet I don't have a conniption every time I see alcoholism or drunkenness portrayed inaccurately or treated lightly on a television show or in a movie. I've also lived with people who did heroin and meth and anything else they could get her hands on, but I couldn't tell you what

Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  My brother and I saw it just to see how terrible it was.  We talked for about it for ten minutes in the parking lot, and then another hour and a half by phone, just going through its awfulness, scene-by-scene.  About thirty minutes into the conversation we remembered Alan Tudyk was in

He was hired to rewrite the script to the first X-Men film, and called up Bryan Singer after reading it and went over point-for-point, what was wrong with screenplay (basically everything, in his opinion).  Singer responded that he actually liked the script as it was, thank you very much, and just wanted him to add

It's ironic that he's been criticized for not being a "visual" director since,   in contrast to most other series at the time, he was pushing for Buffy/Angel to look more cinematic and less like "radio with faces".   In an interview on Wired, he talks about it taking an extra forty minutes in some cases just light an

"Mewling quim" sounds very Shakespearean.  Joss to the MPAA: "It's in Macbeth!  Kids read that high school!"

I like lesbians too.  …No, wait —what I meant is,  I'm attracted to assertive, androgynous-looking women who don't wear make up, which (as you could imagine) is very problematic.  My libido has basically limited me to Tilda Swinton and Clea DuVall. I suppose I also meant it the other way though, too.

How great would an Incredible Hulk movie be if it just started out as like a low budget indie road movie starring Mark Ruffalo?  He's just a shaggy good-looking hitchhiker/ vagrant who finds work at a truck stop diner busing tables and washing dishes, and his love interest is a waitress who works there and the Hulk

I liked it, but it came on just as I was getting out of animated shows.  I remember the episode with 'Agent A' voiced by David Warner pretty well.

I found that comic panel crap irritating.  Anything you add on top of a movie that isn't necessary, that only distracts from the story you're trying to tell isn't worth it.  I had to turn off Richard Kelly's "director's cut" of Donnie Darko for similar reasons.
