And that's what Bigelow and Chastain have said in interviews about the film. It's supposed to be a conversation starter. Obviously there's editorializing inherent in what they chose to put in the film, but this definitely isn't an Oliver Stone movie.

It's pretty bad. There's no attempt to disguise that they're shooting in Tel Aviv. And Hamra Street is depicted as this run down ghetto filled with gun toting stereotypes which I thought was bizarre.

I saw it at 48 fps. Like you said, the effects ranged from great (stone golems) to terribad (Gandalf dismounting his eagle, the fuck was that). The only thing that stood out to me as unique to the format was the lighting. The way the light hit the actors was slightly disconcerting and made the levels of CGI more…
