Just from knowing his online persona, he seems incredibly self-loathing and self-destructive. Which is great from a comedic perspective but horrible from a business one. He's probably alienated a ton of people at NBC and Sony.

Everything indicates that Sony and NBC have had a problem with him for a while. I don't think it's damage control. The public fight with Chevy sealed the deal for Sony, I think.
