@avclub-131799f66a96ee034181e8a54b4c0b49:disqus Yep. Magical cylon baby, like so many sci-fi pregnancies just infuriated me. The fact that they doubled down on it like it was something to be proud of blew my mind.

That would be a crazy twist.

I remember hating the temporary resolution of Roslin's cancer plot, and several other story choices involving Baltar. Just in general there started to be more duff episodes and the show slid in a direction I didn't want it to go.

Millenium Actress is the shit.

The New Caprica arc was great TV, but I don't know if it was the best direction for the show. There were a lot of narrative dead ends in season 3. I'd say the first halves of 2 and 3 were the best the show had to offer, but season 1 was the best season overall.

"but keeps the later segments on an emotionally subdued keel that doesn’t allow for significant rising tension"

I loved Princess Mononoke when I was around 10. I think I was impressed by the violence in an animated movie- I remember writing some fanfiction about Lady Eboshi going around and shooting people in the face.

"There are some who really only love the first season…"

In the second paragraph where it says "Hugo fantasized about flying to Latin America, without even leaving a note", did it mean to say Hector instead of Hugo?

Yeah, I read this three times and still have no idea what the hell it's talking about.

She has some sort of mental disorder. I don't think they would have allowed the conservatorship she's been under for the last four years if she was able to function on her own after her breakdown.

She's not tragic in the classical sense, but I think the circumstances surrounding her meltdown are pretty depressing. But yes, she is dumb, and that's her appeal. People see her eating cheetos and saying dumbass shit and relate to that, and they see her in insane situations like this http://bit.ly/x6bxDh and

Yeah, I was actually impressed that Kenya avoided that kind of attitude. I don't think she wants to be boxed in the way most Puerto Rican queens are, which is smart because she's the "pretty" one this season.

Willam has this wonderful technique of staying calm and distant while the queens attacking him freak out and make fools of themselves. It's kind of hilarious the way he baits them.

Let's be real, the Princess was chaff from day 1. Perfectly nice person, not built for a reality competition. Unless you really fuck up (a la Mimi Imfurst) the boring queens will always get booted first.

"To my mind, the series hasn't been particularly far flung at all in terms of plot.."

Seriously. Every time he opens his mouth I cringe a little. I just can't imagine him making a good husband in any respect.

I like her a lot. She's snappy, bitchy and hilarious, but she faces consequences for her actions— I've never felt like she was a "creator's pet" or anything. She's a necessary counterbalance to the more earnest members of the cast.

So topical!
