To me it was like he was trying to flirt with his mother or his aunt. It always seemed creepy and weird, particularly when she was supposed to be relatively young (her timeline) but looked older than ever.

Completely fine that's she's older than Alex Kingston. I think it's more to do with onscreen chemistry than physical age maybe. Kingston had great chemistry with Tennant, but terrible chemistry with Smith. They just didn't fit together right onscreen. Brady just worked better with Smith somehow.
(Tried to reply way down in the comments to pertinent thread, but then Disqus up and reloaded the page and I cannot find it in the sea of 1200.)
"Plus Elena is such a damsel in distress, at least when she's vampire, she occasionally has super strength and speed to defend herself when Stefan or Damon aren't needed to come in and save the day."
"The show is actually foreshadowing the two doppelgangers getting together…"
Aaron really feels like Riley more and more.
His official title is "bartender to annoying vampires" but at this point he's in charge of liquor for all supernaturals and former supernaturals. They should probably pay him more.
Oh yeah, that was this season. All the blah of season 4 is blending into the blah of season 5.
Eh, more money for Katherine, less for Elena, balances out to zero extra.
Does he really though? Have they shared a scene together this entire season? I started to think Jeremy existed just to pass notes for Bonnie — and when she came back to life he disappeared.
I was figuring that syringe has Damon's name on it. If I were Aaron I'd want to have some possible defense against him and the syringe might give him something.
My partner who watches the show with me guessed that that's what he was going for when he started reaching for the bullet. I don't know that it would really work in real life (with a wooden bullet in particular) but it was common enough in movies and tv for him to recognize it right away.
I didn't even think about this and now I want to give the episode an even worse grade, for ruining the perfectly awesome early plots.
From what I saw the syringe was still full when Stefan pulled it from her boob.
Ugh, this season. This is an easy D, except for the scenes between Katherine and Stefan.
Good to know. Weird that they are relying on Plec to communicate that rather than incorporating it into the show somehow. Maybe they should do a pop-up video version where Plec's explanatory notes are onscreen while we watch — might make certain insanities easier to understand.
Tyler may figure they're both immortal, so he has plenty of time to win her back. Vendetta first, Caroline later.
Yeah, I mentioned Klaus just for completeness. I'm sure there was some mention of Bayou Werewolves being able to turn all the time for funsies at some point — too much minor mythology at this point.
That wolf has been running around without a full moon, right? So it stands to reason it could be a hybrid who can change at will — and pretty much that means Klaus or Tyler.
Good point. I'm wondering if the show will address that at all (1% chance I bet) or just skip merrily along. Back in the day I feel like Caroline was self-aware enough that it would merit a comment during that break-up fight. It would be nice to have her say something next time about it — to Stefan I guess — but I…
