This is just me, and lord knows I've been smacked around here for having some controversial views on the series, but I feel like this was a bit of a cop-out on Iroh's part.

Shouldn't Suki be firebending, then?

Jeong Jeong is a master firebender, one of the greats. His personal issues aside he's been working with flame his entire life and is pretty amazing with it. With the comet amping him up he joins Azula, Ozai, and Iroh in the select category of "Firebenders who are now walking gods." Even the rank-and-file firebenders

The Avatar wiki does, in fact, cite its sources.

And its not just that they had a daughter who could earthbend; they had a daughter who could earthbend who identified politically as a citizen of the Fire Nation and expected to be treated like one.

Wha? No, no I haven't.

You make a strong point, Arex. Perhaps "tainted" was the wrong choice of words.

That, plus a gift of booze for Season 4 drinkin' purposes, ought to do the trick.

Where would you like the internet you have won mailed to you, good sir?

Kanna is indeed Hakoda's mother, not Kya's. That only shows up in ancillary materiel so far, but its part of the series bible (the set of documents they used so the writing team could keep things consistent) and shows up in various wikis, is referred to in discussion panels run by the writers, etc.

That also seems to be something he passed on to his kids.

You… recommended BSG to a family member without warning them first?

This seems as good a place as any to put this rant.

John DiMaggio is amazing. This is someone whose resume is so jam-packed that something like Doctor Drakken, who he voiced for five years over something like fifty appearances, is one of his MINOR roles that he sometimes forgets about.

I usually see it as Ty Loki, on account of how Ty Lee/Sokka is usually 'Ty Lokka' and Ty Lee/Suki is usually 'Ty Luki', although the latter happens sufficiently rarely that there isn't a universally agreed upon portmanteau.

To be fair, every single time Roku showed up he made a point to mention to Aang "By the way, you MUST defeat Ozai before the comet comes."

Whoa whoa, what about me? Does my creepy knowledge of Avatar trivia and the deep intricacies of its shipping count for NOTHING in the "who represents the best of the creepy, maladjusted corner of the fandom" sweepstakes?

But the point remains that, except for Avatars, no one can bend a different element than their parents.

Well, my 'what's that got to do with anything' was predicated as a reply to dygitalninja, who it seemed was trying to make the point that Bolin being an Earthbender requires there to be Earthbender in the bloodline, which isn't the case.

You have to wonder WHY Hasook bailed.
