They changed this one detail in my favorite franchise! OH MY GOD IT'S GONNA SUCK" Comic-Book-Guy-style criticism, not more.

Apart from the obvious issues, they're apparently changing the Shinigami's motives. In the manga he was a bored/lazy demon who was essentially "in it for the lolz". According to one of the blurbs he'll be - a demon bent on ridding the world of anyone it deems evil or useless.

Whatever happened to, you know, slowburn…building things up…less is more…sigh
