They changed this one detail in my favorite franchise! OH MY GOD IT'S GONNA SUCK" Comic-Book-Guy-style criticism, not more.
Apart from the obvious issues, they're apparently changing the Shinigami's motives. In the manga he was a bored/lazy demon who was essentially "in it for the lolz". According to one of the blurbs he'll be - a demon bent on ridding the world of anyone it deems evil or useless.
Whatever happened to, you know, slowburn…building things up…less is more…sigh

Infernal Affairs was far more streamlined, didn't have the ridiculous extra focus on the romance, and had a far, far better ending then The Departed did.
