The A.V. Club
a naked, flashing, counterfeit watch-selling alley-lurking food pervert.
I'd imagine it's just that he's British and so he's not really in-the-know on American race relations. The term is offensive only insofar as it is outdated, which I'm sure he didn't know and which I'm sure he now knows.
I got the sense that he was saying the 90s were bookended by homophobes/misogynists, with Cobain on one end.
I like Alana more than a lot of fans do but I really did not enjoy her having a sexual/romantic relationship with Hannibal.
It was also really tiresome to have the Freddie Lounds death fakeout. I hope Freddie gets more interesting stuff to do in the new season - I think she has tons of untapped potential as a character.
You realize Kurt Cobain was a bisexual feminist, right?
"NOBODY wants to hear about the day-to-day troubles of a fantastically rich middle age white guy mostly on the other side of his emotional problems"
Pete Townshend, however, is a certified old person.
I think Recovery is good but draining. I can't listen to it frequently at all. "So Bad" and the untitled track are really awful, IMO.
Which tends to be the case on his songs that have guest verses (at least by people who are not themselves stars). "Under the Influence" and "Remember Me" are the only real low-points on MMLP and that's pretty much entirely because of the guest verses (although "Bitch Please II" is great). Obie's awesome verse on…
Alan Sepinwall said that if "Dads" was MacFarlane using his power for evil, then "Cosmos" is him using his power for good, which I buy.
I do think he's a hack but to consider him on the same level of hackery as D'Souza is ridiculous.
I think most of us were like "okay this is probably a hoax but like… what if" and then it was revealed it was a hoax which felt very anticlimactic.
Honestly I think the movie would be completely unwatchable with lesser actors. It's amazingly well-photographed and the acting is absolutely top-tier but the movie itself is a boring uninvolving slog.
Not only was that performance incredible, I love that it's the polar opposite of his performance in The Master. Motherfucker's got range for days.
I actually like that some tracks like "Brain Damage" and "As the World Turns" toe the line between genuinely disturbing and jokey-disturbing. It lends the whole album a twisted comic book vibe that I like. The only time he's really approached that tone since has been on "Insane."
Every Eminem album has great stuff on it. I also like that every one of his albums has a distinct tone and personality. I'm not gonna pretend that everything post-8 Mile has been anywhere close to flawless but it is still worthwhile I think. "Bad Guy" is possibly his best song post-2004, and there are lots of other…
Yeah, this is pretty much the highest praise that will come of a critical reevaluation of Encore. Don't get me wrong, I actually like it a lot more than many Eminem fans (maybe because I wasn't really into him when it first came out so I didn't have to experience what must have been a crushing disappointment because…
"Love You More" is good too, although the domestic abuse angle at the end of the song is a bit tiresome as though he was insecure about releasing a song like that that DIDN'T turn hyper-violent.
