I see where you'd read that that way, though I later mention Piz breaking up with Veronica, so it's not like I completely missed that scene, and I would hope you'd give me the benefit of the doubt. But I really do think the film runs away at every opportunity from realistically dealing with some of the pain Veronica

It's a good show, especially in its first two seasons. Definitely worth a watch.

I think you're misreading a lot of what I wrote. I don't say once that she broke up with Piz. Indeed, I only mention Logan twice. This is in no way my argument.

I think she could have had a potential law firm job in which she could still do some good. The law firm she's going to work for is so transparently wrong for her that it doesn't even work to have her be ambivalent about it. It's not like you have to twist the story that much to do it either. Veronica naturally sides

That's an interesting point about season six of the show. This phenomenon turns up a lot in long-running shows, especially ones that get to syndication and just get exhausted. Simpsons has done 10 or 11 variations on it at this point.

Veronica doesn't; the film does. Different things.

I think the problem with feature storytelling versus TV storytelling (at least in the mainstream sense) is that they're very different skillsets. What I love about Serenity (and I understand that this is what makes it controversial for many Firefly fans) is the way that it instantly understands how to make these

I don't think the high-powered lawyer thing is something she should have pursued; I'm saying the movie makes it such an obvious thing she wouldn't do that there's no tension in her decision to give it up. Basically, the A-plot is Rob Thomas leading Veronica around by the nose until she says, "FINE." It wasn't a choice

He and Sepinwall talk about it in part of the interview coming up. SPOILERS.

This is actually an even less faithful adaptation than Hannibal. It
basically just takes a bunch of elements from the movie and remixes
them, and future seasons will be more weird crimes in small towns
storylines. And it's very well acted.

The pilot is pretty good. And I'm toward the more muted end of critical reaction to it.

I suspect Hannibal is safe and will run for at least four seasons. The post-Red Dragon seasons are the thing that might never happen, particularly with the SOTL rights issues.

Nah. I stole it from Hitfix.

My wife and I actually do this quite often, but I think it's because we think we are television characters.

*sniffs* Dan Harmon agrees with me!

I actually write these Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon.

I wouldn't still be grading a show on "potential" this late in its run, honestly. Mom isn't perfect, but it's capable of genuinely good stuff. Now it just needs to work on its consistency, since it seems to alternate good episodes with aimless-to-awful ones.

Problem with the publish time. Should be up now.

I was honestly, honestly a little irritated that Zeek presumed to step into the middle of that marital argument like that. I get that it's satisfying to us as viewers, but if my father-in-law did that to me, I would REGISTER MY COMPLAINTS WITH THE WRITERS.

I know a lot of atheist/agnostic parents who agree to have the kid baptized because their own parents would like it to happen. Just one of those things you sometimes do to keep peace in the family.
