I think one of the points of the book is that guys who react like he did think that something is wrong with them. He's putting his experience out there so other people know that they aren't alone. The popular child mythology is all about the 'beautiful bond' and 'amazing experience' and 'so rewarding'. So anyone who

I believe that the suit against Brown over Holy Blood, Holy Grail was dismissed because the authors in the book were claiming to discuss historical facts, and those facts can't be copyrighted.

I actually picked up Water for Elephants with fond memories of Geek Love. I really didn't like it, and only finished it out of a sense of obligation. I kept thinking it was going somewhere, but it never really did. The first part is fairly interesting, but the more it becomes about the main characters and not about

Gringo- Scrubs introduced real-time babies. One was fine, but when the whole show devolved into a baby-fest, it completely lost my interest.

I think I've posted this before on here, but East of Eden is a good movie up until the last 10 minutes, when it completely falls apart. I don't know how the movie ending could be considered better than the book ending.

So the movie ceased to exist? cool!

OK, I don't agree about the enormous difficulty with reading/enjoying Ulysses, but I at least understand where people are coming from (see also: Sound and the Fury and V.) but people who don't like Nabokov?! He's (comparatively) easy to read, but a master at the language. He's Tom Stoppard in literature. How can you

ld- it's been said many times, but I have to keep reminding myself that humor is incredibly subjective. If you don't find Seinfeld funny, then you don't find it funny. I personally find it hilarious, and one of the funniest sitcoms of the last 20 years. (I don't want to get into a detailed account of how I can to

eh, I'm not the one who teaches lit, so I may get my definitions wrong. I was treating 'modern' as the early-mid 20th century writers that took to playing with the form and structure of the novel to help make their point and experiment with narrative style. Joyce and Faulkner are both certainly in that category.

Ridley Scott
Alien, Blade Runner, Legend, Thelma & Lousie. I loved Ridley Scott.

Just curious, Sugartits: does what you dislike about Joyce and Faulkner carry over into other 'modern' novelists, or is it specific to them?

y'all are whack! Seinfeld not special or funny? And comparing it to Everybody Loves Raymond? ELR is like the template of every generic sitcom of the past 10 years. haha quirky guy who means well, but is incompetent.

glad I could help, nottheradio. send me a copy of your first album.

You there, Boy! ride into town and tell the Postmaster.. that if anyone is looking for Anal Angus.. to come knockin' at the rear entrance.. of Shady Thicket.

worse than needing windows or mac is that it requires you to download and install software on your computer to print out the coupon. Supposedly so that the bar codes print correctly. Um, right. Because my airline boarding passes and fed-ex shipping slips never print right from my browser…

Blood toupe

Are you kidding? The reason I hate Elizabeth Banks is because of her on this show.

I really lost interest when JD got whats-her-face pregnant. The whole season after that was just way too baby-centric.

I'm not opposed to the idea of a 'reboot', and I was actually kind of excited when it was first announced. But the trailers for the film have left me completely cold. They really scream 'effects movie!', when I wanted more story. And really: daddy issues? Does JJ Abrams have serious issues with his father. They're in

Where were all you Alan Havey fans the last time I tried to start a conversation about Night After Night?!
