BTW, I've been waiting for Arya to cash in the Faceless coin for two seasons now, and I am SO HAPPY that our favorite stone-cold killer is finally heading to Braavos to learn how to be an even better stone-cold killer. Plus, maybe now Jaquen will come back! (Original Jaquen, of course, not face-changed Jaquen.)

I interpreted it as a little of both; part "I want you to die slowly and painfully," but also a bit of "I can't actually bring myself to kill you."

I'm assuming Varys has some sort of contingency plan in place if he needs to flee King's Landing. Maybe a good-sized account at the Iron Bank, a nice house in one of the Free Cities.

That was my favorite moment of the episode. Varys' facial expressions are always priceless… "Well, fuck this, I'm not sticking around."

It reminds me of how Steven Tyler's face just looks so much better on Liv Tyler. It's a mystery…

Agreed! I haven't been commenting very consistently, but I love reading the reviews and I hope we get more at some point in the future. Also, I agree with @avclub-3e9e0f1010418374c3dd9ccf3b0ed27c:disqus , I would be down for skipping some of the middle seasons and getting some season 8 reviews, since it was an

Also, Justin Cronin's Passage trilogy would be great as a miniseries. Much better than the inevitable movie adaptation.

I always thought that World War Z would make a fantastic TV series (especially since the Brad Pitt "adaptation" that just came out has basically nothing in common with Max Brook's book). You could even structure the thing as a faux-documentary, the way it was intended all along!

This line comes up so often in my house.

^ so much yes.

Agree completely. Robert Lindsay is the only The Examiner I will accept! (And who will they find to play Marcus?)

Agreed on all counts. Clea DuVall facing off with Amy Madigan? I would watch four seasons of JUST THAT.

I think the mythology and the characters really work to support each other (and I agree with @avclub-d019eb089e65903455cc52308f00b997:disqus that the two sides got mostly equal weight in the TV Club comments). It seems like the comments on the Walkthrough are trending in a mythology direction, which is probably

The knowledge that Bruce Campbell read for Brother Justin makes me SO HAPPY. Not because I think Campbell would have done a particularly good job with the character (he's certainly no Clancy Brown), but because the thought of Ash Williams as the Avatar of Darkness is just improbably wonderful.

Agree with @PawnTurnedQueen:disqus , I always get excited by The Walkthrough! The Archer one was possibly my favorite, although this one is up there.

So excited that this interview has finally appeared! I can't wait to hear about the unrealized plans for the show's future in Part 2!

I also totally had a moment of thinking (hoping?) that Andre would turn out to be Marcus' boyfriend, rather than his brother. The sibling relationship ended up working really well, but it would have been awesomely out of left field to make their relationship a romantic one.

Totally agree! Luckily I didn't get into Happy Endings until the second season, because the order in which the first season episodes aired made NO SENSE. Couldn't this episode (and the next two which, per @avclub-e71c1ca6f3a1da729ae7b32956813ffb:disqus , are also first-season holdovers) just have been included as a

Totally agree with his! And since we're talking about Walter's lobotomy, there's a nice symmetry with Walter wanting to remove parts of his brain to stay human, while Peter is perfectly happy to shove Observer tech in his head when given the opportunity. The son has really learned nothing from the father's mistakes.
