Has anyone checked Trump for Alzheimer's lately? I mean it is fun laughing at his daily crazy talk but I'd feel bad about it if it turned out he actually had a mental problem.

Fair point, I've often wondered why Medicare doesn't cover at least basic dental. It's not like it's a luxury that poor folks don't need.
That sounds like you're paying too much. I've got reasonably good private insurance for the family which costs about $230 a month, and I thought that was exxy.
I was half-kidding, I have heard the arguments against a universal system, but they are pretty weak arguments.
I agree with Trump, the Australian healthcare system (Medicare) is really good. I honestly don't know why the US doesn't just do the same.
Yeah, that might be it. They continue to use the Piper Chat app and rack up new violations. How long passed before this was realised will determine if this is a big or small problem for Hooli. Also if they were just ported over as Hooli users without checking their age, then that could be a violation of COPPA as well.
It actually kind of is… legislation and contracts are both basically a set of instructions for how things are supposed to go. And like code, you can write really good law that works as intended or you can write crappy law that has all sorts of unintended consequences. The main difference is there's no compiler or QA…
His strongest defence is that he only said what he said because he was concerned that Chuck would go completely off the deep end. He had to do whatever he could to convince Chuck it wasn't Chuck's own fault. Still if the bar association is stacked with Chuck's buddies, I'm not sure they will buy it.
Ah the joys of lawyers trying to explain things to programmers and vice-versa. If only laws were as unambiguous as code.
This. All the data is stored and there'd be plenty of evidence. You don't have to go full Jared, but trying to cover it up would be futile and would probably get you in bigger trouble.
I was thinking that during the show. But I don't know how you'd technically do that. I think you'd have to shut the app down and relaunch it with a new TOS. But then everyone hates you for interrupting service on an awesome app.
Well, no startup the size of Piper Chat would have an in-house lawyer - they don't have enough work to keep someone there full time.
Yeah, exactly. I can see why they skipped that part. I have done the running around to get director/shareholder signatures by X am the next day and it is not worth dramatising.
Good question! I don't think Dinesh/Piper Chat had any legal obligation to actively tell Gavin about the COPPA situation.
Thanks! I practice in Hong Kong and Australia. Both countries have a British-based legal system. The US legal system is fairly similar but has just enough weird differences that I don't want to sound too confident. I do have some US clients, so while I don't advise them on US law, I am reasonably familiar with COPPA.
Thanks. If I had more time I'd sit down and do a blog on this show. It isn't realistic in every detail but it does raise a lot of real-life legal and corporate issues. I'll be here in the comments as long as they keep making the show!
Knowing all the care Gus has taken to bury his drug business, I was vicariously furious at Hector during that scene. If you've got a problem with Gus, you visit him at home. You don't mess with another man's legitimate cover business! He doesn't come to your crappy ice cream parlour.
Good point. Depends how broad the licence is. Should be just for developing the Piper Chat app. But if it isn't in writing, there could be a dispute about that.
It's a bit confusing as to what actually happened.
