I've always been really fascinated by Tony's other sister, the one we never see and is rarely talked about. I gather that she was recast and became somewhat more of a character in later seasons (I'm still a couple behind) but I was always so intrigued by this Soprano family member that was never discussed at all.

I loved both of these, but I don't know Deer Tick at all. Can you recommend like five tracks I could check out before taking the plunge?

This Time Tomorrow was also featured perfectly at the very end of Philippe Garrel's 2005 film Les Amants Reguliers:

That's actually hilarious.

This is one of those shows that feels like it's from such another time that it's genuinely shocking that people who worked on it are still alive.

"From Jersey City, it's The Best Show On CBS! Tonight: Patton Oswalt! Matt Fraction! And musical guests, Ted Leo & Aimee Mann! Featuring Jon Wurster and the Newbridge Orchestra! Now, here's your host…Tooooooooooooooooooooom Scharpling!"

My sister's had a tough week, so I'm gonna get her out of the house for a while tomorrow and take her to lunch, etc. The SECOND I mentioned "and maybe catch a movie" she texted right back with "Oh! Let's go see God's Not Dead!" Our texts since then:

Ben & Jerry's next celebrity flavor should be based on Neneh Cherry, because 1. she is so rad, and 2. "Ben & Jerry's Neneh Cherry" has a nice internal rhyme that makes it really fun to say. Now if only I could figure out what flavor it would be…

Last Great Christian Film That Isn't Actually A Christian Film thread!

There was this lovely small moment in their show when I saw them in 1997, edited so Disqus doesn't flag the comment:

SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS is such a perfect (and badass) counter-protest sign I'm a little speechless. Good job, Kansas City.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but is this a sponsored post? However you guys need to keep the lights on is fine with me, but this seems like a weird (and weirdly informative) Newswire.

OH SHIT, I just looked it up and you're right, he says that almost VERBATIM. Fuck, that's embarrassing.

Did he? I'm not being fighty, but I thought he just dropped that line and left.

I realize that this discussion is about more than Boyle (and let me say that I'm really happy with what a thoughtful conversation this has been so far), but one thing about Boyle's storyline has bothered me for months now.

Whoa! Thanks for pointing me that way. The dudes in Sweet just made like thirty cents off my insta-buy…

Man, that means the German version of The Office must be REALLY GOOD!

It really does feel like the sort of fake film they'd make up for a toothless "satire" of Hollywood.

Nobody at NASA said "Hey guys, we're sending this message out to the citizens of the galaxy at large, maybe we don't lead off with a statement from a former Nazi"?
