Were those tears in the scene with Will? I just thought his eyes were glittering inscrutably. It actually reminded me of those lines in the novels about Lecter's eyes being maroon and seeming to reflect red sparks. Except, of course, that the lines in the novels are like the deepest purple of purple prose ever, while

I'm not convinced she knows he's a killer and a cannibal. I do think she knows that he a) manipulates the hell out of people in an effort to orchestrate violence, and b) is very good at it. And I can't really tell whether she has a problem with that.

I went to high school in Memphis less than 20 years ago, and there were race riots at a neighboring school. Also, one of our senior superlatives had a Confederate flag hanging on the back of his truck.

I imagine C.K. would be busy with Louie, but that is no small amount of brilliant!

Well, also because he can react very quickly and craftily to those consequences.

I had the same problem with this, but I read that this particular type of encephalitis is usually diagnosed by veeeery specific blood tests rather than brain scans, which sometimes show only mild inflammation? Except that Will's real brain scans from the Sutcliffe episode showed really intense inflammation. Maybe

I've heard him mentioned for the Tooth Fairy.

I would imagine that the hallucination started with Will asking Abigail if she stalked or lured, and ended with the impalement.

I think she likes being a pain in the ass, and really enjoys being a thorn in Will's side, even indirectly, because he's so easy to provoke.

…aaaand now I'm imagining Hannibal Lecter as a never-nude. For which you have my undying gratitude.

Jesus Christ, that man's cheekbones.

True story: for years, when I've been infuriated by some asshole on public transportation, I have always amused/consoled myself with the thought, "If we all somehow get stuck on this train, That Guy will be the first one we eat."

I mostly agree with @avclub-3be42d8a3412057f79af152555e39bd4:disqus , but I initially thought @avclub-13d7df3c17502af69aafccc758195f96:disqus was referring to Hannibal's not flinching from the nastier pieces of human nature, e.g. the feelings of power and exhilaration derived from killing or fucking with people. He

It doesn't say anything positive about my character that I take issue more with the psychological manipulation than with the cannibalism. I find myself thinking, "Well, but his victims are rude!" Like someone being snappish on a bad day or even just being a plain old dick is cannibalize-able offense.

Witches! There will be witches next season! Imagine the musical numbers!

I'm torn. Minear would be a great match for Hannibal, but last season's American Horror Story was the most batshit fun thing I've seen maybe since Twin Peaks. Maybe he could be torn in half and write for both?

Very nice. How long have you been waiting to make that pun?

The meat wings and even Dr. Sutcliffe's unhinged jaw didn't bother me much because they were so theatrically grotesque. Georgia being burned alive like that was just horrible. There was no perverse beauty in that image.

I don't think you need to be phobic to have a hard time thinking of a more terrible death than burning alive in a small space. I'm not remotely squeamish, but that scene was still really upsetting.

Feels weird to give it a like, so I'll settle for telling you that this is really affecting.
