And those pauses have been few and far between this season. Few and far between, my friend.

No, they're at '68. Word is the show ends when they hit 1970, I believe.

Gillian Anderson was sublime as Miss Havisham. I loved that she wasn't the embittered, eccentric spinster; instead, she was still girlish and fragile and horribly twisted.

Yeeeeah, I'm thinking maybe Coney Island Baby was not that reviewer's biggest problem.

Not to me, but hey, I fully support people listening to whatever works to make them less miserable.

Goddammit. I've had depression for years, and The Velvet Underground and his solo stuff is about the only music I can listen to during an episode. It puts the misery at a distance. I'll miss him.

Yeah, there were multiple portraits of Supremes with dark hair.

Kammerer's not the murderer. Stalker, sure.

The purpose of saying something doesn't need to be to change the parent's behavior, though; it can be to validate the kid.

That's kind of a lovely way to look at it.

I'm pretty partial to "Margaret vs. Pauline", but you never hear anyone talking about that one.

She has said before that it's hard for her to listen now to The Virginian because she feels like there's no diversity in its dynamics, just all loud. I still enjoy individual songs from that album, but I haven't  really been able to listen to it all the way through since I read that without realizing that she's right,

@avclub-5dedb42b34e50082065a783265ce28a8:disqus Yes, I think you are. Further, I reject as objectively wrong your subjective assessment of Electric Version and Twin Cinema. Reject it, I say!

"He sings 'em for you special/He knows you're afraid of the dark" may be my very favorite of her lyrics. It's so tender.

"In California" makes me cry almost every time with that last yearning, plaintive line about LA being beautiful when it rains.

I think that song is such a great representation of her. It takes all of the best elements of her music and marries them seamlessly. You've got your spooky theme, your stunning, poignant lyrics ("It looks a lot like engine oil/And tastes like being poor and small/And popsicles in summer", "Those speckled fronds raise

Jesus, yes. Her voice is unbelievable live, and she has a very charming stage presence as well.

Jesus, @avclub-d7b683529752a4d24d84c4941861a363:disqus , find a decent fucking doctor who understands harm reduction and be honest about what you drink. You're a grown-ass adult, and you don't need to apologize for your choices.

I straddle the line with them; some of their stuff I find pretty, but I can't totally enjoy anything they do because there's always that preciousness just waiting to take over. I saw a video of them covering "Billie Jean", and I wanted to smack them both.

Also: mossy banks.
