Maybe the avclub should play around with a column on Saturday shows (or make it a weekend column by including the new Spider-man series). Didn't they used to do something similar with Adult Swim and Fox's Sunday night animated block?

While I rarely laugh at the puns themselves (though occasionally I do, especially at the painfully bad ones), John and Chris' horrified reactions to the pun runs are hilarious. Its a group effort, Andy sets them up, John and Chris provide the actual laughs. Viewed that way they've become one of my favorite shticks on…
Sure, but the criteria the av club uses to decide whether or not its going to cover a show don't include its rankings in the list of top downloads. Its just "here's a bunch of stuff that random people on our staff happen to listen to."
I think two hours was about an hour too much, but panenis may have been the most I've ever laughed at one of the Mcelroy's goofs.
*Odo disguises himself as a wheelchair, rolls away at the very last second every time someone is about to sit down*
That low gravity scene in Melora's quarters was just one long eye roll for me. "Holy shit! Even though I work in a space station and routinely travel in outer space, and therefore must have had all sorts of zero gravity training at some point, I'm going to act like floating around this person's living room is the most…
I really loved Dukat's reaction when he realized he'd been found out. No apologies, no excuses, no denial, not even a word, he just stands up and leaves. Like setting up this horrible scheme involving war orphans that destroys families and ruins one's political rivals is such a nonevent for the average Cardassian that…
I like Jesse's a lot. Some of my favorite moments on JJHo are when someone will say something really out there and he will just straight up lose it. But my favorite is the Mcelroy brothers. When all three of them start laughing so hard that none of them can even talk I think its hilarious.
I've tried Wait, What a couple of times, and in both instances I couldn't make it through entire episodes. It was nonstop name dropping and "Hey, remember that time we were at a con and we saw that awesome person?" I've followed Jeff and Graeme for years at the Savage Critic, Jeff especially is one of my favorite…
@twitter-495079299:disqus I can't answer that question because I'm too busy touching April's boob.
@avclub-0f2a88b3b0df4b2cca4df1e6c67af432:disqus JJHo was my first Max Fun podcast as well, and that combined with the fact that I knew Jesse was affiliated with NPR in some way caused me to assume the same thing. But the more of their shows I check out, the more I see that Hodgman is the exception to the rule. The…
Was Cop and a Half the one where they were talking about stupid movie tropes in "kidz" movies? It was pretty funny to hear Andrew talk about how much he hates children. They could do a couple of kids/family type films if it makes them respond with that much venom.
I listen to very few of the podcasts that get covered in Podmass, but I come back every week because I know there are at least a few commenters here who's tastes overlap with mine. I would never say I hate this column, and I'm definitely grateful to the AVClub for providing a place to talk about podcasts, but the…
Yeah I can't get behind people giving him shit for making stupid kids movies. I watched them when I was a kid, my kids watched them when they were little, I'm sure their kids will too someday. If somebody has to make that kind of stuff it might as well be a comedian whose work I enjoy. I get…
I agree that five people is too many, but this seemed less chaotic to me simply because there was less screaming and shrill laughter. For me at least the show is considerably easier to listen to when everybody uses their inside voices. This doesn't mean I thought it was a very good episode though.
It took me a few episodes to get into it. The show is really dense with callbacks and recurring gags from old episodes, and I think that can be off putting to people just checking it out. It finally clicked for me when I realized the movies they're talking about aren't really the point of the show. The movies are just…
Mr. Destiny and Babycakes were both fantastic episodes, but I agree, comedies don't always make for the best episodes. I think they got some pretty good mileage out of the 2nd rate Tarantino/Smith screenplay among other things, and I like that they now have one of these "90s movies where dudes talk about nerdy pop…
This one seemed less chaotic to me than the last couple. The 88 Minutes episode was unlistenable, this one just seemed disorganized. I am mystified as to how this was considered a best of the week though. It wasn't even the best movie related podcast of the week.
If you want Max Fun podcasts that work blue try Throwing Shade. Its awesomely filthy.
I lost interest in it a while back, but I'll always remember that Jon Benjamin episode. The last ten or fifteen minutes is one of the funniest/most horrifying stories I've heard in a really long time.
