I started listening to the old episodes when the Avclub wrote it up a while back. I'm like 20-ish episodes in. Its a great show. Has he said anything about a new show once he runs out of Roman history to talk about?

I love his podcast, but I have to say this was one to skip. Definitely not one of his best.

I'm alright with him, sure.

Yeah, @avclub-eea4aec80a343badf2cb4f3aea3f9bf0:disqus that was an inspired choice, I think it was the best episode they did during that month of requests.

They've got a few phrases like that. My favorite is "This, that, and the other."

@avclub-19b1fd7c570468de98bac1a074673090:disqus Don't get too excited, I'm probably overselling the extra content. The episodes are usually around 15 minutes now, and most of that is still Paul Scheer hyping the next movie. He just adds in a few minutes of listener Q&A stuff alongside it. Sometimes he pulls out a

That always strikes me as weird too. I don't know anyone in real life who's even heard of this website, and it causes me to think of it as some quiet little group of nerds and snobs. Yet somehow half the podcasts I listen to get really excited/agitated when they're mentioned here. I wonder how much influence the

I feel like they're trying to step things up. The episodes with people involved with movies, the extra content in the mini episodes, the fact that they seem to have dropped the listener participation stuff, it seems like they're looking for ways to make their show better.

This was a rough episode, but one part I really liked was when June kept trying to bring the conversation back to the homework assignment. The rest of the panel's reaction was pretty funny to me.

I gloss over quite a few of the reviews. If its an episode I've listened to, or a show that's new to me, I'll read them. If its a show that gets covered normally, but I don't listen to (which at this point is most of what podmass covers), then I skip it. The comments section is definitely the bigger draw for me.

Perhaps they just haven't had…TIME to make a new episode lately?

I would gladly listen to a Mcelroy hosted podcast about D&D.

I'd read a Voyager write up if it was attempted, simply because it would give me something to do, and I enjoy talking Trek with all the commenters here. But that's not the same thing as saying I think Voyager is a good enough show to warrant that much time and attention. I tend to agree

@avclub-13d7df3c17502af69aafccc758195f96:disqus you just described my idea of the perfect boss. Apparently I need to put in for a transfer to DS9.

I was raised in a succession of fundamentalist and evangelical churches and schools, and most of the stuff I was taught about Catholics back then I would consider hate speech today. Which is ridiculous, since in hindsight I can say that the groups I grew up with were often insane.

The Besties really is a fun show. I loved the "snowboard with the ghost of your dead father" reasoning behind their choosing SSX as the winner for a couple of weeks.

I actually unsubscribed to the Nerdist this week, on the grounds that while its a show that I usually like, they rarely have an episode that I love, and I'd rather spend the time I have for podcasts listening to stuff I find a little more compelling. The Baratunde and NPH writeups both have me rethinking that though.

The Mcdonalds bit was fantastic. My best man, Ralph? Comedy gold.

Its kind of like when they used to have issues of the X-Men where they'd just be sitting around playing baseball. Not the most exciting stories ever, but throwing the occasional breather issue in between the big earthshaking story lines brought the things the X-Men were fighting and striving for in to clearer focus.
