I can take her or leave her. She's never my favorite part of a given episode, but there's usually enough in her segments to make me fine with having to sit through her. I realize that essentially saying "Eh, I can tolerate her," isn't exactly very high praise.

I'm a couple of weeks behind on WTF, and was actually thinking about just skipping over that one, but the disturbed tone of that review actually has me feeling pretty curious about it now.

That Dworp goof may have been the hardest I've ever laughed during their podcast, though the entire baby related discussion was just amazing. An awesome episode from start to finish.

NO COLESLAW!

@avclub-7cf12ec23b16390f64b0f52e65a7ac1d:disqus I definitely didn't like him back in the day, though looking back I think a lot of that was just a kneejerk "he's a kid in a sci fi show, he must suck" type reaction. This is my first rewatch of DS9 since these episodes were first broadcast, and my reaction to him so far

I watched the first season all the way through, then tuned out for the rest of the run, only catching an occasional episode here and there. These early episodes are actually better than I remember them being. Its still fairly by the numbers Trek, but its done well enough.

My girlfriend isn't much of a Trek person, but she happened to be in the room when I was watching this, and her reaction was "These people are all horrible, but that guy is the worst!" So perhaps in the "convince-new-viewers-these-characters-aren't-stupid" department, the entire episode can be seen as misjudged.

You're not alone! Well, you might be alone. I can't say I like it, more that I like thinking about all the strangeness in that movie and then laughing about it. But that's close enough, right?

I feel like the hearing in "Dax" could have been resolved in about 30 seconds if someone had thought to ask the guy from the Trill planet "Hey, in your justice system do you throw Trills in jail for the crimes committed while joined with a previous host? What's the legal precedent here?" Granted, Bajor isn't required

That sounds like a pretty fantastic birthday party.

I got a Dr. Who vibe off of Q as well. Not just with the whole "Come with me and I'll show you every awesome thing ever" stuff, but in the constant wisecracking as well. The Doctor is far more interested in solving problems than Q is, but he's more likely to make obnoxious jokes and flaunt the fact that he's smarter

Directv had something spoileriffic like "Boyd must deal with a traitor in his gang" as the description for this episode, so I pretty much took it for granted that Devil wasn't making it out of the episode alive. Boyd's a scheming son of a bitch, but that doesn't mean he's going to stand for it in his own camp.

Raylan is most definitely not a sports fan. If he was he'd have known where every one of his coworkers went to school within his first week back on the job. As a Kentucky native I can tell you that talking about UK basketball, and talking shit to people who aren't big on UK, is huge here.

I liked X more than most people around these parts seemed to. The story was indeed stupid, but I agree that Auron made the whole thing seem cooler than it really was. There's definitely other games in the series that have better characters and plot, but X had the combat system that I enjoyed the most.

I liked FF8. I enjoyed the characters, and the art style, and really liked the look and feel of the world they ran around in. In hindsight I can see the love story was stupid, but I still enjoyed the overall plot. What killed it for me was the combat system. I remember boss fights that felt like they went on for

I thought it was Ashur too, simply because who else could it be? Gannicus is the only other character on this show who would maybe have a reason to go to the pits, but he doesn't need to sneak around in a cloak.

Seconded. Definitely not the funniest guy out there, but his positivity keeps me coming back to the nerdist again and again.

STRONGLY DISAGREE! I actually thought this was a pretty great one. The High School Wars/Zack Attack Treaty discussion was both informative and hilarious. I think if any recent episode was a "rest" one, it was actually the one that the A.V. Club wrote up. I was happy to see the show finally get some attention here, and

I'd recommend We Hate Movies and The Flophouse. They're both bad movie podcasts in the vein of How Did This Get Made, but both of them happen to be funnier, and more interested in discussing what doesn't work in a given movie in a (relatively) more thoughtful way. HDTGM was the first podcast I ever got into, and I

@avclub-53e4db6f596904f154b5efa09193e3ab:disqus I can't speak for anyone else who may have criticized Mulgrew in the thread, but for myself it wasn't what was being said so much as the way it was being said. The tone of the conversation, the weird back and forth almost-bickering, the way Shatner was clearly snapping
