With the title and the reference to a Pennsylvania steel workers, I expected this to be a film version of Thomas Bell's novel about immigrant steel workers in Pittsburgh.  Is this the gritty reboot or something?  I hope people pick up the book thinking it's a novelization of the movie, because it's a really good book.

I'm also curious about the logistics of this experiment.  If it was somewhere like a college campus, it seems like it could backfire if he got a reputation as a player.  Especially if he was a grad student…that can be an insular and gossip-filled environment.

I think hand around the throat with no pressure is relatively tame (maybe a vanilla caramel swirl kink?) — just be careful not to start adding pressure in the heat of the moment.  But actually cutting off airflow is a really really bad idea.

"Something kind of sleezy" could also mean that she has a boyfriend back home and had casual sex with another guy while on vacation.  I thought that was the subtext of Dan's last comment — maybe this guy was cheating on someone just like you were.

Given all the complications with friends, relatives, work, etc. staying out of this one seems like the best course.  If the guy is sexting with mutual acquaintances, he'll get caught eventually or do something else that makes your friend realize he's an asshat.  No need for you to intervene and face backlash you don't…
