Would there have been a robot dog in the cradle in that version?

Maybe they were trying to do both? If Human-Cylon hybrid babies are the future (because, after all, the children are our future), they might have been planning a Chief-Boomer coupling from the start and then grabbed the opportuntiy for Helo-Sharon. After all, if not for Love Conquering All, Sharon would have killed

Agreed. It definitely seemed like he was being a bastard. After Six says that the Boomer model is weak and wouldn't kill itself, Balter sort of has an "Oh yeah? Watch this." look on his face.

That's a good point about the scene having another purpose. Between that and 2-3 other cliffhanger storylines going on, they were able to shock us with it rather than feeling like the ep was building to that moment.

It's a problem because it undermines her mission. She's there to accuse Baltar of treason (with the end result of making him *more* trustworthy when he's cleared, but still she needs to be a reliable witness to further that end). She might garner some sympathy by saying she got the disc from the other doctor because
