Oh, Greeks had plenty of issues with their sexuality - there were still a lot of 'rules' about how men could conduct sexual relationships (old men tops, young men bottoms)  and in most Greek City-states women were little better than slaves (interestingly, Sparta was less harsh on women than in 'liberal' Athens).

IMO EWS could have been a masterpiece if ONLY Kubrick had left the setting in 1890's Vienna and not tried to update it to 90's NYC.
