I love Ray  - enough to have put the Apu Trilogy in my top films of all time list - BUT after a certain point, the quality of his films fell off, sadly.

I saw "Woman Under the Influence" and promised myself I would never willingly subject myself to that kind of hell again.

First two are good choices, can live with your #7, the rest - no.

Even the famous Ophuls film of La Ronde is a pretty  hollow affair, its lovely to look at but not very engaging.

Chimes is wonderful - agree its the best Shakespeare film (although the Russian King Lear is pretty good).

I admit that for the most part I admire most of Lubitsch's famous films more than I like them, but there is just something very, very special about Shop Around the Corner to me, on the surface it's like a nice little puddle but if you put your hand in it it just gets deeper and deeper, like the ocean.

Pshcho's dopey psychiatrist scene is saved by the AMAZING final scene with Norman. I have been talking a lot of smack in the comments section about Hitchcock's FX but the superimposition of a skull on Norman's face is pure and utter genius and one of the scariest things I have ever seen.
