I think Nabin nailed it with "it seems like he has the kind of intensity found in serial killers and people who torture animals." He is compelling, but in a fascinating, creepy, back-away-slowly kind of way. His character hasn't changed all that much from when he played Arthur (?) in Six Feet Under.
