Unfuckingbelievable temerity. I don't know why I'm still appalled by them, but I am.

Nope. Nope nope nope. Won't go. Too creepy and (however sappy this may sound) feels like I'd be dishonoring their memories.
Daaaaaaaamn. (I wish I hadn't laughed at that.)
My kid is terrified of the mural in the airport with the gas masked fascist dude. He won't walk through any hall at DIA unless we check to make sure it's not the evil mural hallway (and if it is, he makes us lead him through while he closes his eyes).
I blame Denver with its 'cowtown' inferiority complex just looking for somewhere even less interesting to pick on.
I live in the SE of Aurora. It's a pretty standard middle-class to upper-middle-class suburb, although the further north you go, the less prosperous the neighborhoods become (and the Aurora Mall Cinemark, where the shooting happened, always felt a little dodgy). But as far as I know, although we're mocked by…
But there aren't ANY songs about what's on the other side, as far as I can tell.
Yeesh… Sorry for being so oblivious. I really appreciate you writing about it!
I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when I first read the article; it leapt to my mind and I was particularly looking for it when I saw the topic of the list. Am I going insane?
WHAT ABOUT MR. HOOPER ON SESAME STREET???
FWIW
The characters in the picture are Ugly Dolls . They are bizarre, snuggly, occasionally disturbing, and much beloved by kids. They've got a whole fun and twisted universe, and their creators seem to have a pretty decent sense of humor from what I've seen.
When I read it to my third graders, they laughed their asses off. When I tried to explain the more sophisticated parts, they were annoyed with me, so I just appreciated them on my own and let them enjoy it at their own level. But (as I said below), it gave me such joy to read it to them that I just cried.
Most favorite book in the universe!
The Phantom Tollbooth is my holy grail. Reading it to my students brings me to tears, I love it so much. Having Norton Juster in the AVClub makes me kvell beyond imagining. /heartfeltsincerity
:D
Coloradans still sneak over the Wyoming border to buy insanely powerful fireworks, though. (That's pretty much all I know about Wyoming.)
Y'know, Mr. Reck and I bred a couple of adorable larval Rush fans (not cool enough to be hipster, though). You haven't lived until you hear your kid play-acting some imaginary violent battle in the next room and then hear "Snow Dog is vicTORious!"
::mace and such::
@scotteb - I'm surprised to hear you weren't into this. I was really fascinated by how we got to see the top three choices Watson made — the algorithms must be fascinating. I mean, yes, fine, gimmick, but a really INTERESTING gimmick!
No kidding. Stupid jovial jock doofus Joe. Sensitive, sweet, funny Steve. I miss that man so much!
STEVE RULED.
