My thing with The Moon and Antarctica is that it IS a really solid album, front to back, but that except for the two lead tracks, "Paper Thin Walls", and "Tiny Cities Made of Ashes", nothing about the albums sticks with me. It just all bleeds together into a cohesive whole. And on the one hand, that's probably the

No, it's a great album, better than We Were Dead.. even, and if that were a band's high point, they'd have every reason to be proud of themselves. I only skip a couple of the tracks, and mostly don't care about the little interludes. I think it's more that they're working against their own past discography at this

Hadn't seen anyone else mention the Sun Kil Moon album last night, and I wasn't sure I wanted to be the first to do so. I think it's pretty damn good, and that's coming from a real Modest Mouse fan, and a hesitant Mark Kozelek fan.

"Trailer Trash" is the obvious call, but to be honest, I have a particular affinity for "Heart Cooks Brain". The imagery and wordplay are just about perfect to me. That said, "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine" is such a blast right from the beginning, and just takes you so many places.

How did I forget about that while reading the article? Good call!

You should just listen to "Dramamine" and/or "Trailer Trash" on repeat until it makes sense.

Ohhh my god, that EP is one of the most perfect records to me. I never tire of it. I actually missed out on the last two 764 albums, and then his follow-up stuff. I guess what I'm saying is that my passion is really just for We're Solids and stuff from that time period.

I almost edited my first post to make mention of this. I love 764-Hero, though, and I'll try to fit them in anywhere I can.

I had someone ready to trade it to me as part of a swap for a Lapse record, but I knew that the Building Nothing Out Of Something re-issue was on its way.

Yep, as soon as it started up, I knew I was going to be good with whatever else was in their set list after that. You know how you just need to hear that one song?

I did gain a new appreciation for it when they did it live at the festival I saw them at back in September. Makes me a little more ok with how bloated the band has become, because it works for that song.

Genuinely pleased with this Primer. I was expecting to see them overlook This is a Long Drive… and give too much affection to their newer stuff, but it actually highlighted and traced almost the exact same things I would recommend to someone if they were looking to get into Modest Mouse for the first time. Except

I got into it with someone one time about the best MM record when they insisted Moon & Antarctica was better than Lonesome Crowded West.

Yeah, as soon as I saw it mentioned on reddit, I went to my record store and placed a pre-order for it. Finally, I can stop worrying about overpaying for a "Broke" or "Never Ending Math Equation" 7 inch.

As a lifelong UK fan, I felt conflicted about watching this, because I knew there was going to be plenty about "that game", and "the shot", and I've done a pretty good job avoiding seeing it in the intervening two decades. But, I went ahead and checked it out anyway.

It's actually a nod to a Los Campesinos! lyric, but my guess is that their allusion was to the footballer, yes. I have a boring name in comparison.

Unfortunately just got to watch this tonight, and the opening line of the recap kind of surprised me, because when the episode ended, I turned to my wife and said "You know, it's incredible that this was more or less an entirely self-contained episode. Like, it's especially impressive for fans of this universe, but if

I was hoping to see DGC Rarities, Vol. 1, but I guess I'm the only person who liked it.

Grizzly Bear - "Two Weeks"

I greatly appreciate some Jazz June being shared on AVC. They are one of my top 10 favorite bands, and I just picked up The Medicine on vinyl recently, which made my year. Kinda disappointed at the reaction down here in the comments, but not too surprised, I guess.
