I think you can have a moving, interesting story with that angle ("man does something to self"), but I don't think you can have an ongoing TV show where he's manufacturing one of the worlds out of grief/guilt. It could be a movie, or a novel, but not a show. For an audience to spend dozens of hours (unlikely, but

Valid point, but to play devil's advocate (since I am not terribly upset by the conspiracy, even if I'm not thrilled with it either), aren't mainstream audiences more interested in basic procedurals than serialized mystery stories? Lost and 24 notwithstanding, most hit crime dramas are just about solving whatever

I feel pretty certain it's d) or g).

@avclub-c6447300d99fdbf4f3f7966295b8b5be:disqus Are you saying you were pretty sure of that at the time or you still are pretty sure? I think now that the "conspiracy" plot has been unveiled, it's hard to deny that the blood alcohol reveal was intended to be the first clue that there would be some sort of malicious

I agree with you. I don't think it necessarily means anything besides the fact that they COULD have killed the entire family instead of the one person they wanted to kill.

I identify with this post a lot. There are so many choices for entertainment, so sometimes I just go with what people are talking about right now, even if I don't think I'll like it as much. I haven't watched the Shield yet either, but I'm all caught up on The River.

She has eyes?

It's because of solar storms! They've disrupted the AV Club's satellite!

Wow, God bless the internet.

Excellent, thanks! Hopefully it'll get to my local Laemmle within the next few weeks.

This is probably a heresy, but I think I'd rather watch a show centering around Tim than Raylan.

Sorry for off-topic post, but am I the only person who is getting tons of 502 Bad Gateway errors lately? I'm even getting them on the mobile site sometimes.

I don't know about that. I was only there for one week but I found a lot to do. I had a great time visiting temples and parks, etc. Also, and I know it's not for everyone, but Tokyo DisneySea has to be the most beautiful theme park I've ever visited.

I'm probably the kind of sushi lover that annoys real sushi lovers. I don't like raw fish (I just don't like the texture), but I love california rolls, and tempura rolls, and other various cooked sushi items. I was at this sushi place in Pasadena recently that served deep-fried mushrooms stuffed with spicy tuna that

This actually sounds really cool. Is it very art-house (by which I guess I mean ambiguous) or is it comprehendable to a mainstream movie fan like me?

I wish they hadn't shown that last night on The Soup. It's a little too spoiler-y for my tastes.

I normally never watch "Next week on"s and now I know why. I can't believe they showed the empty compound from the LAST SCENE of this episode in the previous week's preview. I guess I've learned my lesson.

I think the tribe that finds him at the end is shown taking his bag somewhere. Since his theory was they lived somewhere near the falls, they probably took it back there after dropping Emmet off at the mysterious base.

I think Emmet was basically walking from where the Magus was later found, while the new crew took the Magus somewhere much closer to the destination before getting out to walk.

On the subject of facts and their place in "non-fiction": I wish more non-fiction books were done interview-style like Live from New York and I Want My MTV (obviously, many non-fiction books could not possibly be done this way, but for those that could), because at least then you know whose memories/opinions to
