Doing BJCP has probably been the biggest influence on my palette and my overall appreciation of beer. As part of preparation for the test, my homebrew club got together each week and tasted classic examples of each style. In contrast to the tasting notes on a bottle which tend to be very limited, the BJCP guidelines

The 2nd batch of beer I ever made was a Wee Heavy and I still have one in my beer fridge. It’s probably 7 years old by now and we call it Schrodinger’s Beer because it’s either amazing or terrible at this point.

Just be aware that sunchokes can have a lot of inulin. People who are sensitive to that might get a lot of gas and/or diarrhea from them.

Out of curiosity, why grapeseed oil? I always feel like I’m setting money on fire any time I put grapeseed oil on the stovetop instead of canola. Between the heat and the addition of all those flavor-packed ingredients, does the grapeseed vs canola distinction show up in the final taste?
